Mavericks now for rent at U-Haul

Shit man that sucks! How did ya get out of that sticky situation? Idk if your moving stuff across states or locally. I plan on moving a handful of states away next year and worry about this exact scenario

Uhauls roadside. 7 hours later back on the road. This was at about mile 1100 out of 1450 going from San antonio Texas to Cleveland ohio. To be fair i caught some road debris I couldn't avoid that blew the tire. Then limping it a half mile to the exit, turned off to get to the Loves 200 yards away the lip over the over pass send the leaf pack bye bye. Freak accident it seemed and I thank God that leaf pack held till I was only going 15mph.

This is partially why I ordered the Oxford White in August 2021. I figured when the factory was producing all those fleet trucks mine would be slid into the line also. It seems to have worked because I got my Hybrid XLT LUX CO-Pilot360 last April fully configured as ordered with spray-in bed liner.

That could be the reason why my XL white got built in May and delivered a couple months later. Maybe they made too many and decided to fill my order. Whatever the situation was, I’m very happy.

Likely an XL EB with Tow. I think the bulk of the people still waiting are Hybrids. Could be why Uhaul was able to get some. Also, keep in mind you are buying a truck. Uhaul is buying thousands of trucks. Even Ford is not going to Uhaul to wait.

Speaking of uhaul and mavericks.......here's how my day went.

That is something you don't want when using a rental. I had the same thing happen with a U-Haul. I was between Tuscon and Phoenix when I felt something weird and looked in the mirror to see smoke rolling out pass side mirror. I called U-Haul and 45 minutes later a repair truck showed up and fixed it on the spot. I thought it interesting that he had all the new part with him and was back on the road in 2 hours. This happened about 25 years ago.

Thanks, yea it was a bit bumpy but in the end I made it home alive. I'm going to do a write up on the trip but I'll say it went really good. Here's a teaser....about 2700lbs of payload on the maverick and here's the results.

Odd. They don't even have an option on their website to rent anything less than an 8' bed truck. Calling uhaul cs now....

EDIT: Customer service says they're only available in the Miami area (for Florida rentals), and probably a couple other key markets around the US like somewhere in the northeast, and maybe California. The customer service reps have not been briefed or trained on them yet, and the rep I spoke with didn't even know Uhaul Mavericks were a thing until yesterday. He said he had no idea if they were hybrid or EB, and indicated that this is most likely just a test to determine if a nationwide rollout of a smaller than 8' uhaul truck would be commercially viable.

If you live in a major metro area, call around to your larger uhaul locations and you might get lucky.

Having ordered a 23 and never even seen a Maverick I'd pay $20 for a test drive just to decide what do to for the next year or so.

I was surprised to see TWO white 2022 Mavericks for rent when we picked up our Enterprise rental car in Puerto Rico 3 weeks ago. We would have rented one if it'd been a hybrid but they were ecoboosts just like ours. Same color, too!
