Last year on October 14th, I went to a ford dealership and placed an order for an area 51 hybrid xlt + lux with a tonneau cover and was first told that it would take about 16 weeks. Then months went on and still had no updates, I didn't even get any emails confirming the order like everyone else but the salesman insisted that it was still coming. Then as of last week when the order banks opened, I submitted a request to pre-order the 23 and had the same salesman call me about and told me that Ford was converting the orders to the 23s, giving top priority to people who didn't receive their mavericks this year. He told me that he'll get started on my folder to start the conversion but then called me the next day to let me know that I have a built date for my hybrid in October, I didn't think ford would still be producing any 22s by then. But I'm guess I'm glad I was able to make the list and the very end. Will update when/if(?) I received a VIN number.

Ordered a ecoboost on October 16 2021 and my current build date is October 17 2022. My salesman said it would take 8-12 weeks 🙄

Getting a vin is such a stress reliever if you really want the vehicle. Most of us do. Just so you know, there is a build week which can be moved and often does. When you get your build date, it should be built very soon after that date. That's when you can see the window sticker on Ford.com after you set up an account. Just letting you know so it doesn't throw you off if they move the build week.

The good news if you choose to ask the dealer is that you hae a couple weeks to do it. Ford gives the dealer some time to correct orders to get them approved and it does not affect the order date.

Ford won't switch production to 2023 models until November when they will close production for 1 week to "tool-up" for 2023 models.

If you get a VIN, you’re in like Flynn. Build dates will shift, but if you have a VIN, you’re good to go.

Call or Chat with Ford Customer Support. If you have a build week, then you should have a VIN. They can give it to you and also tell you what the build week is.

Update: from my salesman "I checked with my manager and they have not issued a vin yet because it have a "build week" assigned for the week of October 24. Once they assign the actual date they'll issue the vin number 👍🏼"

That is great news. Congrats! (y) Be grateful, I have similar trim and specs and have to start all over in the MY23 queue. Provided the dealer did as Ford requested we will be given the lowest priority number available for this next lottery pull and maybe have a chance to be selected.

Ford won't switch production to 2023 models until November when they will close production for 1 week to "tool-up" for 2023 models.
The last "official" report I saw said that 2022 production will stop and 2023 production will start on 11/14
No "tool up" should be required.

Let me point out that I put tool-up phrase in parentheses. But, there is a stop in production between model years. Your correct in saying that there is no actual tooling change that I can see, but there are production changes (cruise control, paint colors, resetting of tools, wiring harness changes on some models, instructional installation techniques yada, yada) The new Tremor is an example. All this minutia does not happen during a shift change. I was told this from the production manager from McCarthur Ford. I have no reason to believe otherwise. I was also told 1 week, but that may also be a guesstimate.
