Has anyone heard about this company, Clarios? I recently noticed their commercial on TV for high-end, 12V AGM and Lithium-Ion batteries designed exclusively for EV and Hybrids. Supposedly they are designed for deep discharge and extreme temperature environments.

Their website looks like the type designed to dupe investors but the concept seems intriguing.

Just for shits and giggles, I emailed them about a 12V battery compatible with the Maverick Hybrid. I’ll update the list with their reply.

Don’t know why 12v batteries even exist in Hybrid and pure EV. Both already have robust DC-DC built in. Figure in a short timeframe it will be dropped.

Well that law does make the 2 12v batteries in my sisters Subaru make sense. One battery is for stop/start and other for electronics.
Since all battery packs uses low voltage cells, my point that separated battery packages aren’t really need. Dedicated 6 cells for a 12v subset could be done electronically.

Some (most, post 2020?) of the Hyundai/Kia hybrids have a secondary 12v portion built into their battery pack. Also it can jump the 12v off the HV if you manage to kill it.

It certainly could. The two EV’s I’ve owned both eat 12v accessory batteries like crazy, mostly due to how the 12v is charged and depleted. Maybe due to the constant demand and deep discharge, it makes more sense to have an easily removable one.

It does, plus you point out the draw backs of hybrids eating 12v. Undersized automotive style battery is the real issue. Needs a deep cycle type, lithium would be preferable.
Instead of yet another battery ‘repackager’ hype. I plan on a larger sized motorcycle deepcell lithium replacement when my 12v goes out. There are lots of them and they are oddly under priced for packs on the larger end of the motorcycle range.

Before my Mav 2.0 I had a 2019 Wrangler v6 and it had a second smaller battery for stop start, i never acctually saw it but it was under the regular battery in the fender. What I did like is i would plug my cooler in the rear 12volt outlet and it would stay running until I shut the cooler off for overnight and i even forgot too one night and no issues ? But with the Mav it shuts off after like 30min:( wish it had more more capacity.

You can change the cut off time with forscan there is a thread here early in the week that shows how.

But if I changed cut off time, how much is too much? Last thing you want is a dead truck 3 hours into the bush. Would the truck be smart enougn to shut the accessories off before killing the battery? Ill probably just get a jackery or something similar, something to keep the fridge running for a day or so without stressing.

Automatic low battery shutoff protections still work. Just the time out changes. If you have a healthy charged 12v and a very low amp draw or one of short duration like a 12v frig cycle, it should work. Heck it will even send a warning to the ford app to let you know if protection kicked in.

It’s a 70ah battery. I believe, the EB and the hybrid have different batteries, the EB had an AGM and the hybrid has a Lead Acid. Strange that the ICE engine uses an AGM and the hybrid doesn’t. Can come one confirm?
