I originally thought I'd order the xl, but then I actually sat in one. I just don't care for the all dark interior, much prefer the denim look of the XLT. And I like the orange accents!
You know, you are right.

Spent $$$ in Wet Okole seat covers in black/grey to protect and lighten the seats.

Could have ordered the XLT, and thrown out the orange inserts, and been just as happy.

Here is the best list of differences for 2022 that I could find.

EXTERIOR
● 17” Painted Aluminum Wheels
● Cubby Storage in Bed (Passenger Side)
● Cargo Tie Downs, plus four (+4)
● Gray Grille Bar
● Maverick XLT Fender Badge
● Mirrors, Sideview – Manual-folding, Power Glass w/ Spotter
● Power Tailgate Lock
● Wiper Activated LED Headlamps

INTERIOR/COMFORT
● Cruise Control
● Seats, Rear
— Cupholders
— Armrest
● Unique Cloth Bucket Seats

SAFETY/SECURITY
● Perimeter Alarm
● SecuriCode™ Keyless-Entry Keypad, Driver’s Side

I have a pre-order set up for an XL Hybrid with Copilot 360 so that will give me the power mirrors in addition to cruise control(which I do not care about).

I will also add a bed cubby and extra tie downs which should cost around $60 and be trivial to install.

It might be a bit early to write off the XLT though. They could add things like more adjustable power seats which I would be interested in getting.

They could also drop the price a lot.
Good write up (y)

In my case, the only thing I would want from that list from the XLT is the power locking tailgate. Which you can add aftermarket to the XL. Yes power windows would be nice but that isn't a deal breaker. Set it once and forget it

now that cruise is standard on the xl is the price difference worth it for new rims, power mirrors, keypad entry, locking tailgate. at $2300 more not sure anymore.
If I could have gotten an XL FX4, I very well might have. Best looking Maverick wheels, trailer hitch and much better skid plate/under engine cover were must have’s for me.

Updated thoughts after release of info. Thinking of jumping to XLT.

Does the LXT have the keypad at the driver door?

Thanks. I guess I’ll go ahead and make the change. I know I would buy new wheels for sure and the other items will be nice to have.

For me the selling points for XLT are:
Arm rest/cupholders in back.
Not a depressing dark interior
Cyber Orange color available.
And most importantly: might actually get built 2023.

Minor pluses
The lockable tailgate might come in handy if I ever get a tonneau. Keypad, alarm.

Everything else is a "meh, couldn't care".

I would go XL if they let you put some packages on it. If I was just getting a Mav with no FX4 or Tremor and dont think I would have paid $2200 for wheels, power mirrors and the key pad. The other stuff dont really matter to me.

I’m actually fine with XL but with such low production rates forecasted by Ford It looks very doubtful you’ll receive one this year. Especially once you add CP360 to get power mirrors (must for me). XLT will be a better bet.

For me the decision was about ordering a truck that with a high probability of being built. I chose a Hybrid XLT with a hitch and sliding window. No accessories that might slow down production. Look at the screen shot below regarding the way Ford has their production and resources allocated. What was most important to me was the hybrid. I test drove a no option Hybrid XL that was a demo, on the lot last month, no options, snickered at $21500 (2000 miles to boot). The price on the window was $38,000! A real unicorn I guess.

I look at it like this:

1. Id never be happy with OEM wheels - knowing id go aftermarket.
2. The OEM locking tailgate is easily and cheaply added.
3. You can turn on traffic sign recognition/add lane keep stalk/feature.
4. You can add the alarm function (along with key fob start) as a Ford plug in (takes about 15 mins to install).
5. You can swap the steering wheel with another ford - and get a nicer, stitched leather wheel.

From my propspective the only thing id really miss i the power mirrors on the XL (and apparently I didnt know you could add CP360 to get them) Id rather save the money on the XL and then do life improving mods to it.
