Ford Maverick XLT/Lariat.. Undecided still :O
They're saving the fully blacked out lights for a special appearance package, should see it in 2022 (2023MY). Could be a Stealth, Black-Appearance, Timberline, Rattler, ST, Tremor, I don't know, but I bet if the Maverick does well, we'll see more variants to the trim and optional packages.

Hell, even the Escape for its second year of the new body style (2021) got a Stealth package with several gloss-black accents all around.

I hope they do a "black-appearance" package like they did on the F150, that way I can get the front and rear emblems blacked out but OEM quality and with the satin chrome finish instead of bright. Our dealer had a 2019 that had this package, those were some of the best looking Ford emblems I've ever seen in person.

This Road King Special is a real blast to ride!! Funny thing is I started on a '07 Road King Custom and here 14 years later (and 5 bikes later) I'm back on a Road King!! The circle is complete!!

Not being rude but you’re being a little closed minded. It isn’t only a hybrid truck. It also comes with a turbocharged non-hybrid engine for people who want things their way, right? They also offer it in three trim levels, two drive configurations, and with two different tow ratings because we aren’t all the same. I didn’t order it because I wanted a small hybrid truck. I’m also not really a “younger generation” or an “older boomer” so not sure what I was thinking.

All I’m saying is I love the blacked out headlights on my Ranger and I personally really wish Ford would have done the same to the Mav. It’s not for everyone. Some love the chrome and some couldn’t care less. But if you’re one of the ones that couldn’t care less, why comment on this thread? Just to bash someone else’s thoughts? That’s how it seems.

I apologize if you didn’t mean it that way. It’s hard to determine tone through a post sometimes. But it seems like we have a small group of people around here that just surf around looking for a way to argue with someone or post a rude reply. I like to think I have pretty thick skin but it’s getting pretty old.
I'm with you, I think. 😁

I HATE chrome. I wish there wasn't any. Having said that, I don't typically think about the lights because I know they use the chrome for reflection purposes (I think). So while I agree with you, I'm not sure how much they can pull out of the lights in order to still get the throw that is needed and beneficial to see at night. After all, isn't everything pretty much black at night?

But like I said, I HATE chrome as well.

Here’s a pic of my last F150. These were standard halogen headlights from the Special Edition package. Everything that isn’t needed for reflective measures is blacked out.

And my current Ranger. Different design obviously but same concept.

I am confident that the yellow part in the Mav headlight pic could be blacked out with absolutely no effect on the light’s performance. But alas, Ford chose not to. I’ve emailed AlphaRex. I’ll update with what they say if they reply.

I'm still riding my '07 Road King Classic I've had since new...and still runs like new. Not ready to let it go, I've almost got it like I want it! 😁 After all, what you get at the dealer is just the "starter kit"

I wouldn't be surprised if this idea wasn't thrown around during the development of the Maverick. When it comes to these things and other ideas people have mentioned for the Maverick, I remind myself that Ford had a hard price point they wanted to hit and doing so along with still making a quality product people would buy meant compromised had to be made. For myself, I'm looking forward to customizing my Maverick to suit my taste so having a "plain jane" truck means the palette is blank. I have the same thing going on my Harley. Part of the joy is making it yours!

That's so cool! Yes, I agree that part of the joy of owning a Harley is making it your own!! I'm taking the same view with my Maverick. I'm really looking forward to customizing to what I like. There have been some good ideas thrown around the forum so I can hardly wait to get started. My Mav will of course have a few HD hints on it. As popular as I think the Maverick will be, I'm expecting a large aftermarket to spring up so there should be plenty of parts to really customize the Mav.

I think there is more that they could have blacked out than even the little that is on the Lariat. Here’s a close up of the Lariat headlight. Seems like they have blacked out as much as they can moving back into the bucket. No qualms with that. But if they would’ve blacked out the chrome trim (the part that I highlighted yellow like a 1st grader) it would have looked great IMO. Also, I know the Lariat has the signature lighting in the top opaque portion but what’s this area for on the other trims? Nothing that I know of. They could have blacked all of that out.

Yes, I think it’s fair to say they dropped the ball. They missed a small opportunity to make the truck just slightly more aggressive or sporty. They did it on the Ranger…every trim I believe. And it’s an option on the F150. Chrome is ugly and dated. I know that’s an opinion but I’m not alone in it. I absolutely bought my last F150 in STX trim because it had nearly no chrome and I will every other vehicle from now on. If I’m going to pay that much for something, it’s going to be to my liking.

Why didn't you just change the color of the highlighter to Black? LOL!?

I’m with you 100%. The chrome inside the headlight is tacky. Chrome in general is tacky these days. The main reason I got a 2019 f150 special edition was the complete removal of all chrome trim including in the headlights. All we can do is hope the aftermarket takes care of this for us.

I’m on the exact opposite side of the fence on this. It depends on what time period you grew up. When I was a kid, painted bumpers and black wheels screamed “Cheap, cheap, cheap!” I prefer a small amount of tasteful chrome. Don’t worry, the aftermarket will take care of your black fetish😁

Harley Davidson hints like the orange in the XLT interior that so many are complaining about?😁
