Took my first stab at Hyper Dip this weekend. I’ve used PlastiDip back in the day but haven’t used these newer formulas. Application went pretty smooth (warming spray cans in the hot tub helped atomize)

Removal was a little trickier than their videos make it seem, the XLT letters took some extra work. That may have been a prep issue or not enough coats applied so can’t blame the product. Turned out really good overall and the nice thing is it can always be redone!

Looks good. I’m debating whether or not to do the oval. I don’t want the Ford to disappear.
I was impressed with how well it picked up the definition in the oval lettering. Might be hard to see at distance but the Ford is readily apparent as you get closer up.

Looks great, I was curious how the fender emblems would work out. I'd assume it was a little more difficult to remove the excess just considering the texture of the vent/emblem that's beyond the chrome XLT portion, or did you tape that off entirely around the "XLT" letters?

Nice work!
Just taped off a small box around them. Came off the vent fine. It just didn’t “snap” at the edges of letters like you see in the videos which makes me think it could be prep or more coats needed. Just took a bit of careful “encouragement” with an Xacto and it was OK.

So was this just taped and sprayed, or did you remove the emblems entirely for the paint work?

taped and sprayed!
I think what I am leaning towards is blacking out the Lariat and the AWD badging, but leaving the ovals alone, unless I want to black out the blue and cover up the actual chrome script. If I do that, it’ll match the wheels, but it sounds like a pain to handle the detail of covering the “Ford” word.

Liquid frisket

That may be the answer to your concerns.

I like the blacked out Ford emblems! I think I would probably try to keep the chrome "Ford" unless it was just to much of a hassle taping it up. Is Hyper Dip hard to remove if a mistake was made.

Looks good. I'm digging the all black. 👍 Pretty soon, they will have LED kits for XL/XLT/Lariat badges. I believe the LED Ford emblems are already out..

How did you do the XLT side emblems? Did you tape them or remove them? If taped, did you tape around the XLT letters and only sprayed them or how did you do them?

They look the best in my opinion. I'm going to try and find a Black Oval with White Ford lettering for the front and back ovals. Now I just have to figure out where to look for them.

EDIT:
Any idea how big the Ovals are? They sell them by size and I'm not sure how big or small they are.

I know what I'm doing next :)

Oh - how many coats?
4 super light dust coats and 8 wet coats. Being super light with the early coats is really key bc it can drip easy at the start. Keeping the spray can warm was big for me too bc we were below ideal temp when doing it.

I taped off a small box around them and just sprayed it (box only enclosed the letters and surrounding vent). It released off the vent well but didn’t snap at the edges of the letters quite like I expected , which could have been sub par prep and/or not enough coats. Some gentle scoring of it around the letters lifted it clean. Overspray wipes off easy with a bit of detailing spray

not sure on the oval size to be honest. I thought about overlays but really didn’t want to still have the outer chrome ring. I’m sure there will be or are solutions but this was pretty easy and I didn’t have to take the truck apart to work with the badges which I had zero desire to do to my brand new ride 😀
