It's nostalgic as well. I have one in my '71 and I still use it once in a while. When launching a fishing boat like I will be doing, I'm sure the sliding window will come in handy communicating when loading and unloading. Down the road, probably get a cap/topper and the window might come in handy in that situation too. I'll be looking out for a cab-high topper, black sleek looking smoked side window design to come out aftermarket for the Maverick.
And when you tell someone in the back seat to grab you one too.

For the 2x4 that you were one short of ordering enough or the plumbing
PVC pipe that are 10' in length. Better here than trying to hang over side mirror
like we did on the farm.

I have the manual window on my build.

"Note to self, acquire dog"
Be sure to measure head of said dog before acquiring.

Exactly! Would be nice if the cross-bars would be tall enough to let those 8' & 10' items slide thru the window opening.

Way ahead of you, I've already constructed a cardboard template of the open window to bring with me when I'm dog shopping.
Now that's using your head!

Be careful with that template, it may become a dealer option.

Just curious what is the use case is for such a small back slider that is manually opened except on Lariat ? Seems like the brackets to open/close & frame are larger than the actually opening- lol
I got it for my pooch. He can stick his head out. I don't let him stick his head out the sides. Too dangerous. But out the back there won't be the debris risk. And Sunroof + rear window is as close to a convertible my bald head wants to get. :) Would love to have it powered. Would love a lot of the Lariat features, but don't like leather, and I don't like that two tone color scheme. I know a lot of folks think the orange in the SLT is too loud, I actually like the orange but hate that brown color in the Lariat. Wish you could choose interior surface options instead of being trim exclusives.

The trick is to find a dog that can fit its head out the window but not one so small that it can fit its entire body through. That way it can't run off when it sees something exciting.

Same bald head and can't stand Lariat interior color, love the orange accents and Ikea'ish interior of the XLT, will have to get used to cloth but like the two tone and everything will be a bit wild since we are going with Hot Pepper Red -

It's a lot cheaper to get the $155 Manual Sliding Rear window than the $795 sunroof.
Don't forget, you have to add that Co-Pilot to get that Rear Window. Now the price went up for that little window.

I can't understand why you need copilot on the xl trim to get the window.
Hence the reason I did not get that window. Maybe Ford thinks you need to know when you are swerving all over the road to reach back and manually open that window.
