Kind of an old post, but I had Cross Climate 2's on my CX-5 and they were beastly in the snow, slush and even ice through the Rocky Mountains and foothills.

They replaced a set of NITTO 421Q's (which were also very nice tires).

I can recall effortlessly hitting some pretty steep inclines while other vehicles struggled.

They are great tires, better in snow than some snow tires, and tread looks good

Nice. My carbonized grey hybrid just got selected for production. Love the grey on grey look of the wheels to body and tread pattern/tires also look sharp. How did these handle on your Maverick on Snow / Ice?

Anybody own or have thoughts on the Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires? I am considering swapping factory tires for these.
I went with Falken Wildpeak AT Trails
Good ride and excellent traction

The elephant in the room is, if you put them on after the Continental TX's, you're in for a 10% MPG hit. On Bitog most people report a 3-4 mpg hit. Nice tires though from all the test reviews I've read.

I had the Continentals on my previous Subaru and hated them, so planned replacing as soon as I could after delivery of my Maverick. Put 1100 miles on the Continentals and replaced with the Michelin CrossClimate2. No difference in fuel economy at all, with superior ride, handling and quiet.

Put them on my Winnebago Travato and lost about 10% MPG but gained much better handling especially in bad weather. Mine were louder then the previous OEM brand on the RV. Being directional tires is a pain if you have a flat though...

Thank you. I went through a lot of reviews yesterday and for any of us that live in an area with significant winter snowfall and icy roads the cross climate2 seems to be the best bet short of dedicated winter tires. Pirelli has a newer tire, SCORPION AS PLUS 3 which seems promising but doesn't do as good on icy roads as the cross climate 2.

No experience with crossclimates, but we did have Nokian WRg4s on a previous vehicle and IMO they were not as good as dedicated snows in the snow and we noticed an immediate hit to MPGs in summer driving. We're sticking to all-seasons and dedicated snow tires, no "all weathers" for us.

I have the CrossClimate 2's on our fwd Murano. They are simply the best tire I have ever had. Great on dry pavement with an excellent, quiet ride. They are amazing in the rain and really hold the road when driving on wet roads. They are also very good on snow or snow-packed roads. I live in the mid-west and they are all we need in the winter. They are also wearing amazingly well. I didn't really notice a significant reduction in fuel economy. At the most maybe 1 mpg. Keep in mind new tires often show a bit poorer fuel economy than worn tires.

I will be ordering a 23 Maverick Lariat Hybrid asap and I will be putting on CC2's soon after delivery. I was tempted to go give up the great mileage of the hybrid and go with the 2.0 to get AWD. My experience with the CC2's convinced me that fwd and great tires are all that I need.

Thank you all who replied to this thread. In the likely event I decide to take delivery and keep my xlt hybrid this winter I will be putting CC2s on it. I am getting pretty fond of my ecoboost Awd which is a bigger decision as to whether I give that one up :)
