At least in my area, Ford is running commercials for every vehicle they offer EXCEPT the Maverick. Which tells me they already know their '23 order books are going to fill quickly.
AFAIK, they didn't run any commercials at all for Mavericks this year- and despite all their best internal predictions still didn't know what to expect demand wise for MY2022. We exist in a Maverick bubble here that I don't think is reflected in the general car buying population.

I care most about MPG. Hybrid for sure for me. Happy prior Escape Hybrid Owner so I know what I'm getting.

Care least about color and trim.
Which combo of color & options is most likely to NOT have production delays?

Considering how many people have stated their intention to order a Maverick with no intention of actually driving it (just to flip $$$) I would be surprised if the order banks stay open for more than a month.
Interest rates for loans are way up vs. 1 year ago and we're seeing lots of gently used Maverick inventory on-line with ADM that isn't moving quickly anymore. That tells me the quick flipping thing may have run its course...

Yeah this is my predicament.... I want to put an order in, but I don't really want to receive till around this time next year. With that in mind my original thought was to maybe order around November but I am thinking that I may miss out if I wait that long.

My main reason for waiting is I would like to see what the new Ranger and Tacoma have in store because I would prefer to have something slightly bigger. But the main factors to me come down to will they have a hybrid, and will they improve their rear seat room? If they have the hybrid but don't improve the rear seat room my thought will be 'why pay $10+ more' but if they have what I want I would probably pay it

Hopefully they shut order banks earlier instead giving false hope to so many. 20K plus unfulfilled orders for 22, enough said.
nobody gave anybody false hope. parts shortages and demand hysteria created a procurement bottleneck. Curious how you came up with 20k unfulfilled orders with 8 weeks of production left?

Ok how about when to expect first 2023 delivery?
we should put up a poll on this. I'd bet the 1st delivery won't happen until 6 months after production starts.

Why would it be 6 months for the first delivery? Once production starts, shouldn't it be only 4-6 weeks until those show up at the dealerships?

Yes Ranchero, most people I talk to still do not know the Maverick exists. Once that happens it could take years for delivery if millions of people want one but Ford can only produce 100,000-150,000 per year. It is a good thing Ford has no ads for the Mav.

Their website could crash if too many orders are entered at once. Remember, yesterday I predicted days to sell out. However, if Ford still has over 25,000 2022's that carry over to next year's model and if word gets out to get your order in on Sept 15, orders could be done in 1 day.

Al, I know 2 people who ordered XLT hybrids June 2021 with no special options. Over 14 months and still waiting. Their orders were before the long, long line. So new orders...at least 12 months.

I suspect first delivery of EcoBoost or hybrid depends on Ford having materials to build trucks ordered -- especially microchips for Lux and CP360. My XLT hybrid w/ Lux and CP360 order, confirmed 6/17/2021 & built 7/8/2022 (after several build date changes), is sitting in Mexico awaiting microchips, says Ford, with no estimated date for completion and shipping. The MTC spreadsheet of orders and deliveries, though not a scientific sample, seems to show a relatively small % of June-July 2021 ordered hybrids with Lux and CP360 actually delivered after 14 months of waiting.

Optimist guess is end of Jan. Realistic is end of 2022.

If Ford starts to show commercials during college and pro football games, Chicago PD, Lone Star Law, hunting and fishing shows, I will go with somewhere between Christmas and January 20.
Yup. Tons of young guys would choose a Mav over a base model $22,550 MSRP Civic.

I figure they're already sold out. Be pleasantly surprised if you get an order in given the backlog - don't delay on that.

Note that unless you enter into a binding agreement with a dealer, you can back out later should you change your mind. Thus it's no risk to get your order in right away; there's risk in waiting that you'll be too late.
I agree with you about a binding agreement. If the dealer doesn't require a deposit when you order a truck, people will be ordering trucks from every Ford dealer within a 75 mile radius, and go for the one that gets delivered first. This will hurt people who are waiting for a truck in small local dealers with less allocations. I put down a $500 deposit when I ordered my truck, so they knew I was serious with the order. Never had a problem with Sarasota Ford.

One thing that gets missed in these "how many will Ford build and sell" conversations is "how many does Ford WANT to sell". It's a loss leader product. New lines and factories cost big money. You spend that money on products that make high margin, not low margin. Also, Ford is in the midst of a major shift to BEVs, and legacy ICE platforms ain't getting much love.

I strongly suspect, with zero evidence to back it up, that Ford is content to keep Hermosillo as-is, build what it can spit out, and be content to invest that money elsewhere. Including maybe the next-gen pure BEV trucks. Which is all you'll be able to buy in several states in less than two model cycles (where a model cycle is 6 years).

Ford does not look at us as valued Maverick customers. Ford looks at us, right or wrong, as future "more expensive and higher-margin Ford product customers". And if you're a Boomer like me, Ford doesn't think about you at all, because your job is to die and give your estate to a young person. Who will (see above) buy more expensive and higher margin Ford products.
