Hey all. My truck was delivered to Chapman in Horsham, PA 15 days ago. I ordered on July 6th of 2021, so I don't mind waiting a little while, but longer than two weeks is starting to feel unnecessary. They apparently do not have enough out-of-state temporary tags right now, and they are putting off the sale until they have more.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I am trying to not get frustrated, but I have been waiting almost 13 months. Why didn't they plan ahead and get more temporary tags? They also haven't given me an ETA, but they keep saying "in a couple of days you will hear from us."

So is this a normal length of time to wait? Should I be nervous that they will sell the truck to someone else?

From my experience with Chapman I’d say you’re in good hands and don’t have anything to worry about. I didn’t have this occur but everything went very smoothly and they were awesome to work with.

That is ridiculous. Might contact your local office of the DMV in your state and see if they'll issue a temporary tag instead.

Yeah, that is what I have heard up to this point. My other interactions have been good. This has just rubbed me the wrong way. I wish there had been a little more communication about options or an ETA on temp tags.

I can certainly understand that and completely agree.

I am in state and my truck has been sitting there since at least July 20. The excuse given is that they received a large number of orders at the same time and are slowly working through the delivery queue. They won't give me an estimate of when they think will actually be able to deliver either. Just about par for the course with this entire order process. . . .

If you don't plan to drive it to your place and use shipping company, does it also need tag?

I would be nervous in this situation. Back in April I was able to track my delivery and called my dealer and informed them it was just delivered. They said let me check and confirmed it just rolled off the truck. 4 hours later it was prepped and ready to go. Picked it up once confirmed it was prepped. Financing was the longest delay since they were busy completing other sales but still out of there in my truck pretty quickly. This was a local small town dealer and the total order and delivery took about 3 months. Ordered 1/5/22 and delivered 4/4/22, I would suspect they are utilizing your truck for advertising to help promote MY23 sales.

I have an order with Chapman as well, but mine will definitely end up being rolled over to a 23. I hope I don't have that issue because I am flying up from Florida and driving it back. Hopefully I can just bring my plate from my old one. Since I have to buy a plane ticket, I will definitely need a more definite pick up date than "We'll call you".

Well, so far Chapman has had a good reputation through this process. With the 3 and 4% under invoice pricing for orders, they still have a lot of people backing out due to ford taking so long. That has been allowing them to sell the excess orders at the market rate to other customers as well as other dealers. From what I've heard they've been very reliable at delivering on the promised deal with anyone that actually wants their order.

This, as well as their listed new maverick inventory, considered; they likely don't need any trucks for advertising as they already have an excess of Mavericks. Good chance that they are actually overloaded at this point, may just not have been prepared for all the trucks all at once. Still a very frustrating process.

Their listed inventory is actually not physically on site - I contacted them in hopes of buying one (even with ADM), and was told their website is populated automatically by Ford with the specs from customer-ordered vehicles. They actually don't have any available at present.

Chapman has been listing trucks way over MSRP and have had way more trucks then anyone else around. Prob for this reason good luck getting your truck..

Had a similar issue in 2019 with a dealer out here. I suspect it was my salesman just being inept. Have you tried talking to the upper managment? Make some noise to the higher ups I had my SUV delivered with dealer plates, had them two weeks before he showed with temp tags. Already had hard plates by then. It's to easy to blow people off over the phone so they do it. Try putting a poor review up on their site that will get the managments attention real quick.
