If you get the title...you are old! My adventure in the Ford Twilight Zone started on July 6, 2021. This was my order date with Chapman of Horsham. Fast forward to July 7, 2022 I was rolled over to a MY23. One week later on on July 14, 2022 I received my VIN....what a world. Pensively I waited for my Maverick to be built, shipped and readied for pickup. The build commenced on September 13 and completed on September 15. Tracking, in my case required a phone call to the Ford Maverick phone line as the tracker never populated. The vehicle shipped on September 19 and arrived at Chapman on October 22, 2022.
Why Willoughby? I traveled via Amtrak from Newport News, VA to Philly. My travel by train went well. Ashlie at Chapman set my expectations in advance when she notified me that my Maverick was delivered on October 22. I requested pickup on the October 28 and was set up with a sales manager - Alex Brooks. Once in his hands all of the paperwork and logistics went smoothly. He did an awesome job. He coordinated my transportation from the Amtrak station to the dealership. Upon my arrival at the Amtrak station in Philly I called Alex and he set up my Lyft ride at the train station in less than 10 minutes. 35 minutes later Alex greeted me at the dealership. I was then introduced to Nolan Rudd - my Customer Care Rep. He did an awesome job showing me around the truck and covering some of the paperwork. He also did a great job. Finally I met finance to sign zee papers!!! That also went very smoothy.
So the big question is did Chapman honor their 4% below invoice that I was quoted? YES, without hesitation!!! My XLT was $25,501 + TTL out the door. Based on my order date on July 6, 2021 I was also offered the following finance rates: 0% for 36m / 0.9 for 48m / 1.9% for 60m. Thank you Ford for those rates! Thank you Chapman for delivering what you promised. Total time at dealership was about 2.5hrs and I drove off the lot.
First impressions. How was my drive home? AWESOME!!! Initially I was in ECO mode and was getting 33-34MPG. I took the suggestion from this forum to drive in the Slippery mode for best MPG. The following picture tells the rest - 40mpg. About 400 of the miles driven were highway averaging 70MPH on cruise control. I tried other things on the road such as the heated seats and heated steering wheel...awesome. Then after arriving home I tested the fit of my motorcycle in the truck bed. As seen - PERFECT!!!
So my first 450 mile test drive of a Maverick? Love it! It rides great. It is quiet! It exceeds my expectations for highway mileage! Comfortable! It is a near perfect package!
It was 479 days from order to home...what a journey!
