not trying to sound like an asshole but how is that legal? I put a deposit down and had a written agreement to purchase this vehicle and it’s not my fault ford can’t produce it. So I get jerked around for over a year and don’t even get the curtesy of keeping my APR of 1.9 for 60 months?
Because this isn't really a contract and you not being able to buy the truck you want, when you want, at the APR you want does not mean you have incurred any "damages".

It sucks, but it is 100% legal. A lot of people on this forum have zero concept of actual law.

For kicks and giggles I configured a Frontier to my configured XLT Hybrid Maverick. Obviously the glaring difference is the drivetrain. At a high level the others are the refined interior and extra goodies with the Nissan. However that comes at a $6K price increase.

For my personal need this takes the Nissan out of the running. I want something relatively inexpensive with great fuel economy. I will keep rolling my 2004 Lexus GX470 (Overland modified) with 240K miles until the Maverick arrives. Heck I expect the Lexus to out live the Ford.😁

However if I needed a truck today I wouldn’t think twice about buying the Nissan at MSRP or below. Probably less expensive than the Maverick after being violated by the dealer markup.
RIght. And remember, my initial comment about the Frontier was in response to another poster who predicted a $5K increase in the Maverick base price for MY23. I don't think it's going to be anything that dramatic, but my point was that IF Ford did that, lots of folks like me would suddenly see the Frontier as a very viable, and perhaps more attractive option. As you noted, the Frontier is a good-looking, capable truck with lots of standard features. Six grand isn't nothing, but over the course of a vehicle's lifetime it's not a huge sum and you could have a pretty dang nice truck.

Perhaps the Frontier's best feature? There are good numbers of trucks on dealer lots nationwide! Imagine that; you could actually go to your local Nissan dealer and purchase a truck today, likely for a negotiated price below the number on the window sticker.

For now, I am going to ride with my Maverick order and submit a MY23 order if necessary (likely). However, if the economy keeps going the way it seems to be going, I believe Nissan could be offering some pretty attractive deals on Frontiers by this winter or the spring of 2023, and if that's the case and "my" Maverick still isn't built, well, all bets are off...

Exactly. At that point is just go buy the new Nissan Frontier.
I've bought 3 Nissans at our local dealer for myself and my kids. They are sending me emails right and left on the Frontier. Last one was for a 18-month lease at $299. Wife and I joked that I could get that, save $200 a month from what my Maverick will be, and will probably still be waiting for the Maverick once the lease is up.

Always hard to make sense of lease offers without the fine print (how much cash required down to get advertised monthly rate, how many miles allowed per year and what is impact of taxes and fees?). However, that's a good-looking deal for a short-term lease. Might not be a bad idea, as you are right -- you may still be waiting on your Maverick when it's time to turn that Frontier in!

My dealer first told me 8 weeks, almost 8 months ago. So, I'm not in a trusting mood.
Even this switching to the MY '23. Do we go to the head of the line or the back of the line? I'm just a mushroom that they don't care too much about?
You're right...that hasn't even been confirmed yet. Not by Tim Bartz or the one big dealer on the Maverick Facebook pages. Even if dealers put 2022 orderers in before all new 2023 orders in August by a day...it doesn't matter. Case in point...there are a lot of people that ordered a Maverick June-August of last year that don't have a Maverick...but tons that ordered after August that do. Myself included. I ordered mine June 10th...no Maverick.

But, for literally the first time ever, my dealer called me one hour ago to tell me my truck should be here in about a week. I should be happy, but I'll believe it when I see it and after I pay....hopefully for MSRP.

Agree….this is coming from someone in the leasing industry (not cars). A lease could be a good option for some people others not so much.
FWIW I have never leased anything.

I also received this email on Wednesday. After speaking to my salesperson on Thursday morning about the 2 options offered by Ford, she came back to me with an option that I wasn’t expecting. Last year, she ordered a Lariat, loaded. Very soon after she placed the order, a vehicle with the exact specs as the order she placed was delivered to their dealership. Identical. She decided to lease that vehicle, and when the one she ordered came in they would just put it on the lot. That vehicle now has the window sticker, and is ready to head out. Knowing this, she went to her sales manager and suggested they offer it to me, since she was certain that I could be waiting another year to get the truck I ordered. Management agreed, and they are selling me the truck at MSRP. Nothing added by the dealership. I ordered an XLT. This is a Lariat. My cost was right around $32, this is $36. I have seen the same vehicle listed for well into the $40s. I am willing to pay the extra $4 for the Lariat trim if it means getting my truck in the next few weeks. Just wanted to share that there are Ford dealerships out there with some integrity, and who know the value of a happy customer. Thank you, Anna, and the sales team at Keller Bros Ford in Shaferstown, PA. I am a happy customer.

Options for your Maverick order.
Strong demand and global supply chain constraints continue to delay the scheduled production date and delivery of your Maverick®. We have now reached a point where there is a strong likelihood we will be unable to produce your Maverick order within these constraints.

We understand that this is frustrating.

That’s why we’d like to offer you some options to keep you moving forward with a new vehicle. Have a look below to see which path seems best for you, and then contact your Ford dealer to set up a plan.

If you want to keep your 2022 Maverick order
Contact your Ford dealer to review your order specifications and discuss the removal of certain features or packages that are preventing it from being scheduled for production. While there are no guarantees that these changes will result in your order scheduling, your Ford dealer will need to remove those constraining features or packages by July 8th for your 2022 order to potentially still be scheduled for production.

If we cannot build your current order and you’d like to convert it to a 2023 Maverick
Understanding you may not be able to take delivery of your 2022 Maverick order, we will be making a special private offer discount available beginning in August to those customers whose orders go unscheduled. This private offer may be applied towards the order and purchase of a 2023 Maverick. Please consult with your Ford dealer beginning in August when the 2023 model year Maverick order bank opens to understand more details about this special private offer.

We are grateful for your loyalty amidst these unforeseen global circumstances.

Contact your local Ford dealer to set up an action plan today.

Check out the link below for frequently asked questions about the Maverick.

I Ordered my Maverick XL 2.0 Jan 12. Bare bones only the towing package and full sized spare tire, nothing else. Every time I got an email from Ford saying my options were holding up my production I contacted my dealer. Every time I was told your truck doesn't have anything added that would prevent a build. 2 months ago I changed my license to the state I now reside in. Sent the salesman the new license and told him to forward it to Ford as my previous lic. was cancelled.
I called again this morning to discuss the new email. He never sent the current license off to Ford and now informs me that the full size spare was an issue but might not be now. He said Ford would have contacted him if there was anything wrong with the order. Waiting for a call back said he was going to make some calls to Ford to get everything updated.
I think I can kiss this truck good bye!

I just visited with my Ford dealer sales guy about the letter I received. He said that since my truck is at a priority 2, that he cannot make any changes at this point. (I have an order confirmed on October 19 for an XLT hybrid with lux. package.) He said since I am priority 2 I am highly likely to get my '22 vehicle. If It isn't scheduled in time, he doesn't know for sure if I will keep my place in line for a '23, nor how much my price will go up. I didn't leave very assured of anything. Are any of you with unscheduled priority 2 orders hearing something similar from your dealer?

You get a VIN once your order is scheduled for a build date. I would be concerned that you don't have an approved order. Ask your dealer to see proof that you have a ROVP/COVP approval. An ecoboost order from November should be either scheduled or at least have a priority 2 status.

@fordvidguy ,

I talked to the Dealership and had to do a lot of explaining to them about the above, which made me nervous to begin with. They discovered the CVOP was never done. This was there last reply to me:

"There is no info listed, so that tells me the COVP wasn't done. However, this approval has zero to do with build, build date, VIN, production, etc. Nothing. It only protects the incentives and rebates, which we are going to give you regardless.

The order has been accepted and it is still in processing. I just don't want you to stress over the "approval" that Ford gives. Has nothing to do with your order time at all."

They are going to do the CVOP today. Do you think this was holding the priority code going from 10 to 2 and would it hold the order up?

Thanks for your help with this!

Well I sure as shit didn’t give my local dealer a couple thousand dollars to hold onto for 8 months for nothing. That’s why I’m questioning the legality of all of this. It’s like a Ponzi scheme

You had plenty of options to order from dealers who would have required no deposit at all. Sounds like your dealer sucks.

They are incorrect, the order has to be approved through COVP to be looked at for scheduling. The deadline for submitting into COVP was Feb 2nd, 2022. They can not submit now. Basically, you don't have a 2022 order. You will not get a private offer for your 2022 order and will not get priority on your 2023 order. So I would submit an order first thing August 2nd through a dealership that knows what they are doing.
