So right...and sometimes hard to control your emotions...so I respect your wisdom. I am getting my Maverick in the next 2-3 weeks and fear some issues and hope that I will be as smart/disciplined as you.I try to be level-headed and logical about things. Bottom line is they don't have the part and can't fix it right now, and nothing I can say or do is going to change that. Either I can be reasonable and they'll continue to help me as best as they can (paying for Uber, rental, etc), or I can go in yelling and screaming and they'll be a little less inclined to help me, not just in this instance, but in the future. I'll be "that guy", and I'm sure dealerships have plenty of "those guys" to deal with. This might not be the only first-year kink the Maverick has either, so I don't want to go burning bridges. I also just try to treat people with respect. It's not their fault the block heater is leaking, so why yell at them? They're just doing their jobs. If they suck at their jobs, well then that's a different story!
so my asumption is that it was leaking around the threads? If this is so, removing it applying teflon tape or thread dope should be considered a permanent fix? I would like Ford to try a leak sealant before they start removing the exhaust manifoldMy dealer patched it with Teflon tape for now. Will let everyone know long will this fix last.
The thought of having items removed from a new engine isn't appealing, but as I understand it's the exhaust manifold and associated items (egr etc.), not intrusive into the engine itself. Leak sealant might be OK for an old beater that you want to get another year out of, wouldn't be my go to for a new vehicle.so my asumption is that it was leaking around the threads? I looked up some info in Ford Workshop manuals. Hope it will help!Standard on Canadian hybrids. It seems some of the engines with block heaters didn't have them installed properly (one shift?) at the plant, or the supplier had a bad batch of heaters. Seems the dealers are waiting on new heaters to do the work, but it could just be an install issue. Perhaps someone that had the repair done could weigh in on what had to be done to fix the issue, provided the service departments aren't being too tight lipped. A block plug might be a good route if the heaters are bad.
What is the scope of "backordered"? Is that for third party garages, or dealerships as well?No block heaters available now...on back order. Looks like there are only 13 back ordered currently (US & Canada)....so not a ton of them have been ordered.
That is for Ford dealerships (and 3rd party garages would have to order from a dealership (or another authorized Ford distributor)).What is the scope of "backordered"? Is that for third party garages, or dealerships as well?
Thanks,That is for Ford dealerships (and 3rd party garages would have to order from a dealership (or another authorized Ford distributor)).
I work at a Ford dealer (not in parts...but I have access to look up). I checked again this morning 13 on back order.
I do think I was wrong about my info being US & Canada. There is a Ford parts warehouse listed in Ontario....but it is California, not Canada like I first assumed!
So the 13 on back order must just be for the US?
There is a note from June 9th, that 3 pieces would be made available at national warehouse, and than 1 of these was allocated to a Canadian location. I am not sure if this already happened or is due to happen though.
I assume that these are being pulled off the production line / or redirected from going to the plant.
Yeah, you're only like 135 miles/215 km north of me. I don't think of any other Ontario! Thanks,
I've come across the Ontario, CA, and Ontario, Canada confusion before as well.
That Canadian location better be Planet Ford haha!
I'll make sure to ask my guy about the "parts escalation process". It'll be three weeks without it as of tomorrow. I only had it for two weeks previous!Yeah, you're only like 135 miles/215 km north of me. I don't think of any other Ontario!
Hope that it is!
If the part continues to be delayed, make sure your dealership is following "parts escalation process" for vehicles that are "off road". Not sure if this works differently in Canada or not, but if they submit the right requests, parts are (sometimes) pulled from the plant and shipped to the dealership. Good luck!
Fun factoid…Thanks,

The more you know!Fun factoid…
Ontario, California actually was named after Ontario, Canada. From Wikipedia:
It takes its name from the Ontario Model Colony development established in 1882 by the Canadian engineer George Chaffey and his brothers William Chaffey and Charles Chaffey. They named the settlement after their home province of Ontario.
Welcome to the party! So, after 17 days for schedule and 2 days with dealer, come back with block heater leak and need to wait for part 10 days-2 weeks.
It's more like a common issue now with block heater, mostly Canada Hybrid version.
