I feel like I know the answer in my heart, but I'm gonna ask it anyway.

Are there literally any Mavericks (new and/or slightly used) that are available on lots that aren't already reserved or ordered and waiting to be picked up?

I'm looking for a new vehicle, and the Maverick is ticking all the boxes for me. Looking on Autotrader, almost every listing for a Maverick within 300 miles of me is either already listed as reserved, sale pending, or "not in stock, either on order or in transit". I've seen a few that say in stock, but they usually have just a stock photo of a Maverick, so I wonder if it's too good to be true.

Are dealerships posting vehicles online that are already spoken for to generate interest in hopes that if the original buyer backs out, they've already got people ready to buy it?

Thanks.

Yes…..high demand truck and you can bet your bottom dollar it will sell with a ridiculous markup. If your lucky order my23 in August…

I think in general the answer you'll hear from this crowd is that it's not impossible, but you have to be diligent because the turn around time for dealer inventory is measured in days, not weeks. If you use the search feature on the forum you'll find stories of people who were able to work with dealers to locate a Maverick, although it seems to me like many of those stories included paying markup on MSRP.

Seeking out a Mav, let alone one without a crazy markup, will be a full-time job. Get yourself on as many dealership lists as possible and then just cross your fingers!

Go to the Member Marketplace under Forum (scroll down till you see Market). Look for Mavericks For Sale. See if there is any there.

Most people on this site ordered a Maverick site unseen. I ordered a hybrid with only being able to sit in one of the first turbo Mavericks at my dealer. Never test drove. . .Also remember that Ford stopped taking hybrid orders mid Nov and Turbo in Jan?

I bet Ford would have sold out 2022 faster if fuel prices today were last summer.

Keep you eye out and get on the list for a 2023 in Aug.

Yes. My dealer lists three different Mavericks on their website. With generic pictures but different specs. They don't actually have any of them and don't expect to get any but they do like people to walk in and ask so they have a shot at selling them something else.

If you really want a Maverick now instead of ordering start visiting as many dealers as you can and get your name on the list. My salesman said he sold one last week: truck came in and they called the customer who ordered it who said he didn't want it. Customer in the showroom at that time heard him on the phone and bought it immediately. He said two other sales people were mad because they had people on their list and he sold it before anyone else even knew it was available.

Im in the same boat. the mav ticks just about every box as a commuter (still got my 'froader) & weekend hauler. went to look at a hybrid XL the other day, dealer marked er up 20k! thats insane! and i checked back last night, seems like its gone. i see some at places like carvana etc up for more than a few days but too expensive! :(

(1) Look for a listing with a real world picture (hint: you see weeds in the background). Everything else is generally a customer order. (2) Look for anything $10,000 over MSRP.

Those are usually real vehicles sitting on the dealer lot. The idealized photos are all customer orders and already sold.

Yeah, that’s a real annoyance.

Many dealers have automated software that lists every vehicle coming in, even the sold customer ordered vehicles. I suppose it was designed to attract potential customers, but these days when just about all vehicles are customer ordered it just serves to create anger and frustration.

That's likely what this is I supposed.

Can't really blame the dealers to be honest. It takes a certain amount of sales to keep the lights on and there are not as many sales to make when they can't get inventory. They need to do everything they can to sell what they can get. I read yesterday that in the first quarter of 2022 production was done 2.2 million vehicles due to COVID/parts shortage/whatever.

Yes there are some without high mark ups. Yes they are really hard to find, but as you're already on auto trader and you can expand the search, etc... You have to continue to call dealerships and have them put you on the call list for any that arrive. I live in Michigan and see some on the lots and is how I got mine last year. Best of luck, but it's not impossible - please try to actually sit in and/or drive one if you have opportunity to make it's even what you want, there's been a few forum members that either didn't take their order or sold quickly because they didn't like or just to make money off them.

Thanks for the tips. I'd love to sit in one and test drive it, but the closest "listing" (if you can call what's on autotrader an actual listing) is about 200 miles away from me.

I've done about the best I can do without having access to the actual vehicle and watched I don't even know how many hours of Youtube videos about it at this point.
