Just received this text, is $1000 a normal deposit to reserve?
And my response would be:
I think I effed up my post. I was responding to your sassy with a "classy" response. C'mon...do yourself a favor and listen. You'll laugh. Promise!A- I was complimenting you on your excellent post!
B- I'm not clicking that
I didn't need a deposit, and was never asked to put one down.
There is not anything that ties the amount a dealer charges a customer for a deposit to when Ford will schedule a vehicle to be built. My dealer asked for a $1000 deposit, but said it wasn't required. I paid up as I was committed to the purchase, and figured it might just buy me a higher priority. I ended up being their first hybrid delivery. So who knows, there just may have been something to that.
Although Ford does not require a deposit, with the market the way it is, putting $1,000.00 down is prudent as you sign a contract to order the vehicle. It gives you leverage and a deterrent against shady dealers being able to sell your truck out from under you. God bless those who actually received their truck by putting no money down. Regards.
It's my understanding the dealer sets the priority code for it's factory allocations. But I'm no expert on the subject. There is not anything that ties the amount a dealer charges a customer for a deposit to when Ford will schedule a vehicle to be built.
Was 0$ when I ordered in June. I wish it was 1000. Hell, I would have paid in full if they let me. My truck finally comes in in July after 13 months. I'm still scared my dealer gives me a markup. Less likely to happen with a high deposit. The deposit was $100 dollars when I ordered in June.
