You are absolutely right about the leap of faith. A grand was too much for me so they dropped it to $500. I just look at it as buying the truck as I want it and buying a spot in the front of the line. That is a privilege which is fair to pay for. I think the Mav will be a huge seller. Waiting for the lot to stock an XL with 4K tow might be a long wait for me.How is that wanting something for free? It's a huge leap of faith plunking down a grand on a truck that I've never seen in person, that we have no idea how long it will take to be manufactured (Just look at the Bronco delays), and with no guarantee that in the mean time the interest rates will skyrocket making the monthly payments unaffordable. You're paying $1000 for a spot in line to be one of the first to get a new truck that will/should eventually be able to buy off the lot with nothing down. I'm okay with a deposit, but I don't really want to be handcuffed into making a purchase God know how long in the future. Lets just pretend these delays actually extend for months and months and months, parts become scarce, should I not be able to get my $1k back to go pick out something else? Non-refundable is a very dangerous term, unless you don't care about the money at all.
It was also agreed that if it wasn't delivered by xmas I could get the $500 back. I feel lucky I was able to negotiate into my comfort zone.
