Never having 'built' a vehicle I have read hundreds of threads on this forum taken notes added items to a dedicated folder developed a google doc for my findings and visited a myriad of other Maverick sites/forums
But thats it Im going in tomorrow to build my Maverick with the dealer and when Ford says ok send us your Hybrid Lariat orders mine will be in the pack!
Side note
Dealer salesman told me (and hes older long time family Ford dealer) that one of the local BIG boy Ford dealers wrote up a few 'fake' Maverick 'deals' so as the dealer could sell them. And they got caught
Question
I am considering dropping the moon/sun roof. I want my Maverick to be more : haw shall I say more truck looking and I dont have one now (moon roof) and probably wont use it much on the Maverick
What do you all think?

Didn’t think you could officially order until Aug 15/16(?). Or are you getting on one of those “pre-order” waiting lists?

Well good for you!! I like my truck,it is doing exactly what I want. I ordered mine in June of 2021 and got it in May so far I think it has been worth the wait. You 2023'ers probably won't have to wait as long. I got a basic Lariat. Thought about the moonroof but then realized that I never used the moonroof on either of my Expeditions and still don't use it on my Smartcar. Its a personal thing I guess,up to you. I don't miss the moonroof. Bottomline though is I absolutely love my truck.

Correct, you can't. Ford has not even released pricing, options let alone ordering. Gotta be one of the pre-order schemes.

Interesting, my dealer is Galpin Ford (Largest volume Ford Dealership in the USA). I emailed my salesman about getting on a wait list for the 2023 model year and told him I'm even willing to place a $1000 deposit and he had no idea what that was and said they aren't going to be doing anything like that until you can officially order it.

Each dealership is deciding many of these aspects on their own. And Ford Corporate is fine with that.

Taking a deposit? Some do, some don't. Making lists of pre-orders (even without firm order options yet, but just to have a list of customers to call when ordering opens when August rolls around)? Some do, some don't. A combo of both? Some do.

I've got at least one dealer in the Seattle area who asks for a $100 totally refundable at any time for any reason deposit to get on their "I am going to order with your dealership on Day 1" list. Two other dealers in the area have lists going, but no deposit involved.

Honestly......I'm suspecting the dealer charging the deposit is the one who is going to be more quick to get orders in and know what they are doing. They are also the only dealer among the three who without prompting told me in writing (in an email) that they will never do price markups on any order. The dealer with the deposit is also the only one I have seen who has a Maverick specific page on their dealer website that details out this entire process. While I don't like deposits in general, sometimes they are asked for by legitimate and competent dealers.

Some of these dealerships are dealing with less than a dozen new cars on the lot. These sales guys need something to do to fill their time. OP's dealer seems to be planning 2.5 months into the future. Nothing wrong with that unless there's something more urgent to handle.

You won’t have access to the 23MY styles, Options, or Pricing until August of 2022. It makes no sense to to commit to something now. Be there the day the Order Banks open and know what your buying.

That’s my 2cents worth.

I hope it works out for you! It sounds a little like they want you in the building to get you to buy one now with an ADM.

I personally love my moon roof and the fact is you cannot even see it or know it is there. I am so glad I have mine even if I do not use it all that often.

I think a sunroof becomes a moon roof after sunset. Then the whole thing starts over again in the morning. Kind of confusing, but nevertheless I plan on ordering one unless the price increase for MY23 is more than I anticipate and I am more or less going with the current inflation rate. Hard to gauge though.
