I texted my salesman to get the rail car # for my truck, and she said it's on a boat and is expected at my dealer in NC by 6/27-7/3. By boat?!?! Hermosillo is on the West coast of Mexico. They'd have to go through the Panama Canal and come all the way around Florida.

Does anyone know if they're boating them to California, Texas, or Louisiana, and then sending them by rail or truck carrier, or if they're shipping them all the way to Florida, Georgia, SC, NC, or Virginia?

With a 4-5 week destination date, it makes me think they're floating it all the way here. I'm thrilled it's on the way but sad that it's still 4-5 weeks away.

LOL! Sounds like a line if I ever heard one. But, what do we know. Hermosillo is no where near a port. But there are a hell of a lot of train tracks! Somebody has to be pulling your leg!

That nice saltwater ocean breeze does wonders for your brand new vehicle since we all k ow how great the paint coverage is on these vehicles.

IF it is on ship, be very scrupulous when taking delivery, inspect gaps and places paint is hard to spray in. Miss a spot of rust now means replacing parts later. Do your due diligence!

Took 4 weeks and 5 days via rail then convoy to get to Orlando. 4 weeks seems to be a typical freight time.

When I asked the salesman if it was coming all the way to NC by boat, she said, "We're not sure at this time, the last ones came through Tampa. It may not be on a boat, but often when they are coming from Mexico and don't have railcar numbers that's the case."

"Well, ain't this place a geographical oddity. Two weeks from everywhere." George Clooney in O Brother! Where Art Thou?

Apparently Hermosillo is a geographical oddity. It's 4-5 weeks from everywhere. :)

Trucks are shipped on railcars. If you zoom in on the Ford plant on Google Earth you can actually see them lined up. The delays are due to high gas prices. Shipping companies are trying to stack more vehicles on the car carrier before they head out to the dealerships from the ship yards.

Hermosillo is about 85 miles from the port of Guaymas. There is a good highway connecting them now (a few years ago it was really bad). There is also a rail connection.

I have no idea if car carrier ships dock in Guaymas, but it's a good-sized port that serves tankers and bulk carriers.

Sounds like your sales rep really had to dig deep into his rolodex of excuses. Wait... Do people even use rolodexes anymore?

If it was by boat, have it washed and detailed a few time, nice and deep like. The salt film will get ya.

I could use a road trip/vacation. I wonder if they'd let me pick up my Mav in Mexico?

I'm thinking the same Tim. Why don't we meet up in Dallas, and carpool the rest of the way to Hermosillo. Then we can drive our trucks back and tell Ford we're not paying the $1,500 destination fee.

Sadly, I think mine is already on a boat, or a cart with an ox, or tied to a donkey who's going to pull it the whole way to NC. :)

(Disclaimer - No, no, no! I don't really believe Mexico still uses oxen or donkeys to transport goods...I'm really making fun of Ford for using the slowest possible transportation method possible.)
