What was missing was a no U- turn sign to compliment the cones.
True no-no U-turn sign right at the cones but there was a no U-turn sign in the vicinity of the accident.

Just had the same issue. Dude in the right lane was slowing down so I passed him, put on my blinker to changed lanes and as I started to move over he speed up and hit my passenger side back panel. Going to take months to get the parts to fix
My wife and I have noted that people drive so much worse than pre-pandemic. its like 'I expect everyone to avoid me so I dont have to drive with respect'. Common road courtesy is gone.

I think even though this accident was probably avoidable, the fault will stick on the Jeep driver. Illegal U-Turn, illegal lane change, etc.. just too many things wrong here.

I think this person did a pretty good job
Damn near totaled his Maverick while driving recklessly and your final assessment is "pretty good job"?
😆🤡💩😆

anyone knows that these roads tend to be dangerous in nature. There are certain expectations if you drive on roads like this,
*Admits these types of roads are quite dangerous.
*Doubles Down on his insane belief that you can have 'expectations' of your fellow driver.

See: Expect the Unexpected

Really getting tired of all the drivers on the road who feel it is the burden of the person they just pulled in front of to guess correctly their intentions and not hit them. I guessing you are one of those.
Not hitting the vehicle in front of you is driving 101. It's always your job to make sure you don't hit the person in front of you, especially when they're driving unpredictably.

Stick, you sound like a terrible driver. Please hand in your license. I wouldn't even trust you to drive a go-cart with the kind of attitude on display here.

I see you missed the point of my comment, and mis-quoted my post, which was specific to HIGH SPEED 4 LANE HIGHWAYS
I quoted your words exactly as they were written. If people are missing the point of your comments you may want to try writing more succinctly.

I may be in the minority here and I sure as hell am not excusing the Jeep driver for the asinine attempt at an illegal U-turn, but I would argue that the accident could have been avoided if the OP was driving slower, given there was an obstacle in the roadway. There was no reason for this Maverick to rear-end the vehicle.

Many of the other replies have said that in their states, the one who rear ends another vehicle is at fault and I think any good lawyer will fight the Maverick owner for responsibility on this basis. If they determine a percentage of "at-fault", I would say that the Jeep owner is maybe 10 to 25% at fault.

I think BOTH drivers should be issued citations for unsafe driving including the U-turn attempt, speed and maybe even an unsafe passing attempt by the Maverick owner. The Maverick owner better be hoping that he or she doesn't get sued for injuries on top of the vehicle damages.

EDIT: BTW, I do not think its fair to say that the OP was "HIT"; he or she obviously ran into the other vehicle. Just my two cents. 🤷‍♂️
I agree if the jeep stayed in its lane AND the road way was a city road. But this was a high speed 4 lane road. It is expected that if you pull into the highway, you stay in the right lane until you reach traffic speed. This car did not, and instead, served in front of the Mav without a signal and not leaving enough time to avoid. Additionally, the jeep made themselves two lanes wide at the end, making it impossible to avoid hitting it. In this situation, cars dont slam on their brakes when slow cars get on the high speed highway. It is expected that faster cars overtake the car in the left lane, as the Mav was doing. But nice of you to share your 2 cents hating on a not-at-fault Mav owner who just lost their vehicle. 90% blame on the Mav? Good thing there was a police officer who is familiar with the road and can read what happened.

yes you were,, thanks for admitting it. My point exactly, why you feel it is your right to hate on a person who was NOT AT FAULT by claiming it was. all I can say is wow.

AGAIN you misquote and put your narcissism on display. Really sad that you have to rely on insults instead of staying to the point. Makes my point actually quite well. And I see yet again you failed to see the situation as the police officer saw it. And as per your comments, I see that you have summed up years and hundreds of thousands of mile of accident free driving to 'terrible driver'. try to avoid insults as a way to communicate going forward, but if not, we all understand....
Accusing others of unnecessarily throwing around insults as you levy accusations of narcissism shows a stunning lack of self awareness. Bravo.

FYI, your attitude tells me everything I need to know about your driving.

Howdy folks. Here is another Safety Tip from Stick.

Always exceed the speed limit while driving down 'dangerous' highways

If you go 55mph, you will get run over. 63-65 is expected.
anyone knows that these roads tend to be dangerous in nature.
Guy says these highways are dangerous but suggests that everyone should be exceeding the speed limit by almost 20% "for safety" 😆

Based on your past comments, "I'm a safe driver" probably isn't the hill you should die fighting on.

... "lose" the video if the wrong people asked for it ...
Yeah, right. It exists, and that fact is known by the cop. There is no hiding it.

wow, you are full of insults. thanks again for making my point for me, in spades. you have a nice day now, you are not worth my time or effort as there is no critical thinking displayed here by you
I'm not sure I'd call this taking the high road. 😆

Thanks for the laughs. I never thought I'd hear someone say, "you should always break certain rules of the road but expect other drivers to NEVER ever break other ones" with a straight face.

I don't think there is any doubt the Jeep driver is at fault, pulls out slows down to a stop taking two lanes and then tries to make an illegal u-turn on a highway. Could the Maverick have avoided the accident, probably, slowing down and driving more defensively, and even the owner admits that. But the onus still falls back on the Jeep driver for even putting both vehicles in this situation with clearly illegal acts.
