Here comes Maverick competition:

VW Group is on the precipice of launching a new dedicated EV company in the United States called Scout that will produce an all-electric pickup and a rugged off-roading SUV geared toward the American consumer.

A full electric pickup or SUV would cost at least twice as much as a Mav. It's not really competition at that point. The good news is that next year's VW Amarok is based on the Ranger. Let's hope this partnership brings home some results for electrified trucks, including the Mav.

What if Maverick goes EV, Ford said there will be another EV truck in the lineup, what an EV Maverick would cost?

They'll use their batteries on the F-150 and Ranger before the Maverick. It'll be a couple of years...

What do you base it on? There is a market for electric anything.

I base it on the fact that battery supply is limited. If you had a limited number of batteries, you'd electrify your most expensive vehicles first that make you the most margin. In other words, not the Maverick.

A 300 mile base model Maverick EV would run around $30K (WAG).

Put the battery under the truck, where the gas tank was, then you can have a huge frunk.

There's been multiple leaks that the next electric truck from Ford will be the Ranger. It also makes a lot of sense - Ford apparently promised Europe it would be all electric in that market relatively quickly, and Ford sells a buttload of Rangers in Europe.

EDIT: Also, in the US, Ford is obligated to have increasingly efficient vehicles fleets by the government. Those goals are easier to meet by replacing gas guzzlers than fuel sippers.
