My wife was at the local Ford dealer a couple of months ago looking for an escape or escort hybrid. She mentioned that I was planning to order a Maverick hybrid when ordering opened back up. Well the dealer didn't have the car she wanted so the salesman took her phone number.
Two days ago he called to tell her that a Maverick had come in and the person that ordered it was in trouble with his wife and might have to back out. (He had purchased a new Ranger a few months ago). We scooted down, glanced at the Pickup, read the green window sticker and left a deposit in case the buyer backed out.
Next morning the salesman called and said the person that had ordered the Maverick last July backed out and we were 1st in line!!!!. We are now the proud owners of a 2022 Maverick Hybrid Lariat with the Luxury Package and Co-Pilot (and a stupid sunroof) in Hot Pepper Red!
Somehow I feel like I won Unicorn lottery.

How much over MSRP did you have to pay?

5K, But I didn't have to wait over a year for a pickup and I didn't want my wifes choice of an Accord. She is thrilled with the Maverick. So what is it worth to you to not wait a year plus to get your new ride?

For me I will wait for a few years or not get it if I have to pay extra. To each their own. Congrats 🎊

I understand the advantage of patience and not paying a premium, but your ability to wait when your 35 is different than when your north of 70. It would have been nice to wait, but I don't know what the price or options will be on the 2023 Mavericks, or the build time delay after the order is placed.

Uh, I'd just buy something else. Or wait. No vehicle is ever worth that kind of premium over MSRP to me, regardless of wait times. You paid above $37k for a Maverick, while my order is just above $29k for the same truck less a moonroof.

So you paid almost $8,000 more than me for a sunroof and to have it today. I can't imagine being that desperate for any car. I have a Maverick XL right now and I know from interacting with it that past $30,000 it would not be at all appealing. Our G70 was $39,600 brand new and the idea of paying even close to that for any Maverick is ludicrous to me when you compare what you get and the quality of the work.

Nonetheless, I hope the truck serves you well.

If I was wealthy and did not care I would pay 5k adm. However if I was wealthy I probably would not be buying a Maverick. Good for you though.

Did your wife dream that up? Because they stopped making Escorts ages ago. 🙃
