Ordered Lund Aeroskin II Hood Protector - Received Something Different/New

The smoke version is part # VNZ6Z-16C900-A

I got lucky and my dealer had several VNZ6Z-16C900-C in stock while I was there having them look at my cracked window, from a rock hitting it. You might check if there are any other Ford Dealers nearby that might have one.

All I could find online was here, and they have a ridiculous $70 shipping charge.( It was $274 shipping before I called them and they supposedly "fixed" the shipping fee.)

Seems it is discontinued, a lot of sites list VPZ6Z-16C900-A as it's replacement.

I think you are right that it has been discontinued. I also wanted the one with the bump/lip. Called my local dealership yesterday and they were able to provide me with the phone number for an unrelated dealership in another state that showed to have it in stock. I called them and made sure they paid attention to the part number (ending in C) and they are shipping it out tomorrow.

I hope I recessed the deflector far back enough. I probably could have got back with it another millimeter or two.

Used my Ford Points to order the "Lund Aeroskin II Hood Protector" from my Ford Dealer.

What I received is different - it is Textured (not smoke) but does not have the rise on the protector.

The Part # for the Aeroskin II does not even show up in Ford Dealer Parts computer system.
What I received does fit the Maverick. It's shaped like the smoke one - but mine is textured without the rise.

Only thing I can guess is maybe the Aeroskin II Hood Protector on the Ford website is discontinued or was changed for the maverick ?
Or Ford ran out of stock of the Aeroskin II Hood Protector - and this is the current substitute ? I really have no idea and and guessing in the dark.

I ordered as well and dealership has yet to receive it (truck has been at dealership for almost a week now and no signs of it). Kind of disappointed...not sure what the dealership will do at this moment?

He poked around in his computer and confirmed that the older (shiny) version is not available.

I have heard rumors that the Aeroskin II was discontinued because it was causing a large amount of hood flex/vibration at higher speeds. No idea if thats true, but it is not sold on the ford accessory site anymore.

plenty of talk here in the forums about the Aeroskin II causing hood shake issues and everyone's attempts at mitigating it. Combination of lightweight aluminum hood and a deflector that picked up a lot of air pressure was probably a bad idea but the market moves quick
