It's official!!!!!! I am being sued for injuries!!!!!! On a wreck deemed not my fault by police and insurance!!!!!!! Great country we live in!!!!!!!!
This smacks of a planned 'accident' to sue for money. Your insurance company needs to fight this for you.

My wife "tapped" the rear end of a car ahead of her in stop and go traffic. No damage to her car. $400 to buff out the bumper of the car which belonged to a friend of the driver.

The man started by suing State Farm for 35K. They refused. Then he found another lawyer and upped the settlement amount to 100K, which was my insurance coverage amount. State Farm upped their offer a little bit. Two-year time limit was running out, so he is now suing my wife and State Farm for 250K. Has 40k of chiropractor bills as he has supposedly gone every four days for back relief. Submitted another bill for over 25K from a medical facility that specializes in "Automobile and Motorcycle Accident Injuries". I would rather deal with a car salesman any time before an auto accident lawyer simply looking for a percentage of a settlement check. Do not get me wrong, if I am responsible for an injury, I understand I am liable. That is as it should be.

This episode made me think that the safety items on the maverick are really quite cheap!! I have told my wife that that her car is now "evidence", so she cannot sell it until this is over!:)

The police report is all you need to prevent the suit. That happened when a car full of illegals (yes the jumped out and ran except the driver) cut my wife off and she T-bone them.. Got a copy of the police report with signed affidavits from two witnesses and the drivers lawyer dropped the suit. Now on to payment. Hurricane Ida totaled our Mitsubishi Outlander which was nine months old. Allstate payed us the full purchase price and after four weeks handed us a check for an additional $10K since new and used vehicle cost went sky high. That's how we paid for the Maverick. Now if we can just get them to cough up the dough for the hurricane damage which they say isn't as bad as the structural engineers we hired say it is.

He is disputing the police report and their claim of fault.

Nothing worse than a stupid client and a crooked lawyer. It is people like that who are the cause of rising costs in healthcare, insurance, and other services. In a word, dishonest. The courts need to stop this kind of thievery. I hope you get this resolved to your satisfaction.

Pretty sure at one time Lawyers were decent people and there may still be a very few. These days though? This will probably go to court, cost you time and money, the lawyer gets paid no matter the outcome, and even if the other driver loses, he will be released to the public to do as he pleases once more.

Well I had proof I was moving less than 25 mph and had already crossed three lanes before I was broadsided.

I was bored at home last night and was reading my Maverick owner’s manual, and near the front was a section on vehicle data / event recorders.

If you’re willing to share, was that data accessed for the crash investigation, and if so, did it corroborate what was in the police report?

Unless it involved a fatality, the police won’t be pulling data from any accidents.

True enough. Just curious if the insurance company wanted to see the data(?)
