I think the Lariat looks nice, too, thought I think the XLT looks better. But if you are thinking of changing the seats, you might consider going the Katzkin route and get actual leather instead of the vinyl of the Lariat trim. *ahem* sorry, I meant "ActiveX".

I like the cloth seats of the xlt just fine. When I said I'd just want the trim I meant the furniture around the vents and going across the dash

EXCELLENT. Glad you were able to practice and received good results. Oh, a little soap goes a long way. I've learned ALL of Adam's products are like that.

The varable speed would work. My wife bought me an Adam's orbital polisher for Christmas. It has different settings on it. Their buff pads are all velcro as well so that would work unless it is ONLY high speed. You want both highs and low speeds.

I typically start around 8-9AM and get done after 5PM. And that is ONLY the exterior. The interior is another half a day. All I can say is thank God it's not an every week task. Once a month I waterless wash it and every other month I 3 bucket wash.

After watching a few videos I realized I didn't use polish before doing the wax. Would you recommend using polish on new vehicle. I realize that polish is a light abrasive and would be more applicable for something like my '15 Sportster that probably has never been waxed. It has probably only gotten waterless wipe downs.
My orbital sander does have low to high speed settings so you think it would ok to use instead of polisher? Yes it does take a long time to do a fall wash, wax, etc. job, but as you said thankfully it only a once a year process! The in between waterless will be a breeze in comparison.

I would NOT bother with putting polish on the Maverick. Your Sportster is a different subject. It may need correction and polish won't hurt.

Gotcha! no sandpaper! Yeah I'm still trying to decide if it would be worth the $$ to get a polisher since the Mav is going to be my only vehicle to worry about. My bikes are small enough that doing the work by hand isn't a big deal. My other truck, '04 Ranger, has a paint job that is Arizona baked and really would need a new paint job. So I'm not going to bother with it try to resurrect that paint.

If you can do it right ourself, you know the process and will appreciate the results more imnsho. If you have never done it before, maybe drop the cash on a reputable professional detailer who will come to you and offer the usual bribes (pizza beer etc) to watch.

if they say you have to subscribe to their only fans account, you contacted the wrong kind of detailer, just saying (some former nurse has been stuck in my news feed because she quit nursing and someone at google has it listed as medical news i get it, but quit showing me the story I dont care how she makes her money now if she aint in the field now it is not medical news)

You'd be surprised what just a good wash, clay bar, wash and polish would do to the Ranger. I wouldn't spend a lot or a lot of time on it, but it's still in there. She just wants you to give it some TLC and she'll come right back. Put a little time in it and give it a ceramic coat to protect what's left.

Good idea. You can clean it up and pay to have it corrected. Then bring it home and finish the steps to ceramic coat it. The Paint Correction is the most labor intensive. Having a pro do it may be worth it.

Roger that! I'll get a buffer and have a go at the Ranger! It would be good practice for me. You will not regret getting a DA polisher. Orbital is ok but still can get you holograms and small swirls. But the safe DA polisher set at a med/low speed with appropriate pads and light polishes will never get you in trouble (Unless you consider that a challenge)

That's not a bad idea! I'll have to check around and see what it would cost to have the paint corrected. Maybe it won't be to bad. I watched a Chris Fix video where he fixed paint on a Blazer that looked like what I have on parts of my Ranger and he did a good job with rattle can. Well it looked in the video and for a $500 vehicle I'm sure the paint fix blended well with the rest of the paint job after he did compound, polish and wax.

That's my retirement hobby. If you want to use it on the bike too, think about getting a 12mm instead of a 15mm. It's a little smaller for the smaller area bike. Of course it would take longer on the trucks. Adam's has about 4-5 different sizes. But there are other brands.

Ive always found it a real Zen type activity, especially now that I have a big heated/airconditioned 3 bay garage! Working 4 days a week for past 2 years. Full time next year!

Ive always found it a real Zen type activity, especially now that I have a big heated/airconditioned 3 bay garage! Working 4 days a week for past 2 years. Full time next year!

I've been looking at my 2 bay garage and thinking it's time for a re-do. I have my bikes in one bay, which won't change, but the other bay has slowing be gathering stuff over the last 3 years and it's time to stop this sucking vortex of junk! The problem with redoing the garage is pulling everything out and moving it all around and getting it done in a single day! 3 bay garage would be nice!!

It takes a LOT of self control to keep it organized and neat. My wife hates that I won’t let her put her stuff in it but that rule has to be enforced or I’d be surrounded by seasonal decorative crap! Her house, My garage!!
