Funny - my thoughts in order - dang that IS dirty - why not shut the door, all I can hear is the door chime , Wonder if I can turn it off in FORscan.
So, here's a pic of the control module. I've been trying all morning to get a good shot of the speaker plug, it's just to tight of a spot to get a good image. It's a white plug, with a green and a purple wire, same shape as the horn connector. Officially, it's only accessible with the bumper off, but you can find the connection under the driver's frame rail, just below the trans cooler lines. If you follow the trans cooler lines where they go around the fan, you'll see the harness clipped into the fan shroud.
I engaged the parking brake. If you put it in Drive with the door closed and then open the door it automatically puts the truck into park. So I started it with the door open. Hence the door chime.
I wasn't even thinking about that angle. I just miss the utter silence of my CMax, which, as far as I can tell, never ran over a wayward pedestrian in my 8 years with it. Not even my dumbass dog who ran at my car every time I pulled into the driveway.
I got a chuckle out of it...
Hahahaha a switch would work well. As far as lawsuits ....... after you run over someone just make sure to turn it back on.
I wouldn't mess with it. I can barely hear it in the cabin (and can't hear it at all if the radio is on). Plus it's completely for the benefit and safety of other people. Pretty selfish in my opinion to want to shut it off
Selfish ? Lets see - only place it would be helpful is POSSIBLY a parking lot. The stupid sound only operates at low speed. We all have seen the idiot in the parking lot glued to his / her phone walking - no amount sound is going to help Mr head up the &^^ he or she will walk in front of you without looking cause well - that's who they are. Second group of folks - the poor blind folks. Hmm as Ive never seen any blind folks moving SUPER fast it is pretty easy to avoid hitting them even without the government mandated nanny chirping. Im not selfish and I dont want to hear a bunch of generated noise.
Ever seen children dart around a parking lot? You think you're a perfect driver who is never distracted and who sees everything 100% of the time? And just because a pedestrian is distracted doesn't mean they deserve to get hit by a car. There are a lot of reasons they may not see your truck aside from being on a phone.
