After 92 years in operation the plant I work for is permanently closing in June. It's a big shock to me and the community. Over 400 jobs lost in the blink of an eye. I have been here 18 years.

So I am on a job hunt. And no dealer is going to sell me anything without income. Currently looking to stay with the company but will more than likely have to relocate.

I'm sorry to hear about your news.. I hope everything works out for you..
I looked at the link you gave and seen westrock in the title.. So I opened the article to give it a read.. It might not be what your plant produced.. But I work at a corrigater plant in the roll stock receiving/ warehouse.. And our corporate have been sending us so much westrock model white rolls.. So much so that I don't have to may places to put the stuff. Currently have about 60 rolls just sitting in the receiving docks cuz I can't find places to put it and more still comes... I finally had someone tell me the reason we are getting so much is because our corporate received a discount per ton... So one example we might only Carry about 20 rolls at any given time of a specific grade and size of model white and I have over 80 of that grade and size now times that by 16 grade and sizes.. I got nowhere to put it.

Sorry to see your in that situation, but I faced a similar situation in my career and want you to know it’s true that when one closes another one opens.

Keep the faith and your eyes open. Good things are coming your way!

Echoing what others have offered.....it's tough now, but I'm betting you'll come out of it better off eventually. I'm a believer things happen for reasons we don't understand at the time.

I've been layed-off suddenly twice over my career, but each time I was actually able to better my situation, so stay positive, and have faith you will do the same!

Good luck to you!

Keep your head up and eyes open. Change is not always bad even if it seems so at the time.
I have been in the printing trade for almost 50 years. The paper side of this trade has lost so many mills over the last 10 years.
Your Mav is the last thing you need to worry about right now but do not just cancel it. You may have another job by the time it gets to your dealer. If not then just let it go and take care of your own needs.
Good luck!

No idea what your salary was, but plenty of places pay $15+ to start. Take your unemployment, and compensation package (?), and find another great job. Scary sometimes, but you will be better off.

Perhaps take a moment and try your hand at a trade skill? Like an electrician. Even as an apprentice you can make decent money and it goes up quick.

If you stay with your company and relocate, most likely an auto financer would see that as continuous employment.

Sorry to hear. Losing a job is always hard. I wish you nothing but the best. Don't give up hope on your Maverick yet. Try to get financing. Don't throw in the towel just yet.

sorry to hear that. I feel like PC has been going in the wrong direction for a while now. They have over built, and under-planned. They are so focused on the tourist side, they neglected growth to bring permanant residents instead of retirees and snow-birds. I spent my high school years living there. I spent many a night on the beaches from PCB to FWB.

The situation about your stock of the roll stock is very interesting. I was in manufacturing for years and wrote programs for production, warehousing, stockrooms, etc for about 35 years. Most companies today use the "Just in Time" model of receiving materials so there is almost nothing to stock since items arrive just as they are needed. This is as opposed to the older models of LIFO - Last in, First out and FIFO - First in, First out. It sounds like your company has invented a new model of FIST - First in, Stays there. ;)

I've been there! (not your location but in the same situation). I used to work in the shipping department here.

Right now that is the plan. I am hoping it is continuous or I find something in the same field close by within a few hours.

No, I'm not giving up just yet. Got a call from a potential employer this morning at Georgia Pacific and it is less than 3 hours from there. That would be the most desirable option considering I have a daughter at FSU.

Yes, they are more focused on tourism than anything else in this town. 70% of the population here are renters. Many don't own homes so I am fortunate to live in this area and actually own a home (at least for now). Panama City is actually a terrible place to live because my employer (paper mill) is the only good job in town. I have a degree and had to leave my previous job 19 years ago because pay here was so lousy unless you worked at the mill.

Hey man I know it’s hard and I’m sorry to hear what happened to you. I do ridesharing and they approved me. If you need some extra cash you can try Uber or instacart.
