I’m experiencing high engine revs (3500 - 5000) when I slow down for a stop sign or light, AND I’m towing my camping trailer and gear ~ 1200 - 1400#. My Maverick is a 2022 XLT with FX4 and 4K tow packages.
Anyone else have this experience? Thoughts? Thx

I don't have my Mav yet but I have heard that the high revs is intentional in tow/haul mode to allow for more engine braking rather than relying on the actual brakes of the vehicle. Tow/haul mode is available across all trim levels. The 4k tow package that you and I opted for benefits from the trailer brake assists, but those without it benefit from the engine breaking of the tow/haul mode to save their vehicles brakes.

There's no harm to revving up the engine to engine brake. Just try not to be near redline.

yep- I get the higher revs too when I’m pulling my boat and use tow mode.

I have a long and steep hill I travel with my rig and using tow mode on the 40mph descent leads to revs around the 3700-4000rpm range. Kind of annoying.

Page 7 is likely relevant here. Refers to the F150 super crews but the technology should work same across all vehicles.

"Tow/Haul Mode With Integrated Engine-Exhaust Brake Tow/haul mode and tow/haul mode with integrated engine-exhaust brake (6.7L V8 Power Stroke® turbo diesel only) with auto setting give drivers even greater control when traveling downhill Helps eliminate unwanted frequency of gear shifting on steep uphill grades and allow engine braking to maintain or reduce vehicle speed and assist the driver in controlling the vehicle when descending a steep grade."

That is expected behavior from the Maverick owners manual for tow mode "For improved transmission operation when towing a trailer or a heavy load. This mode moves upshifts to higher engine speeds to reduce the frequency of transmission shifting. This mode also provides engine braking in all forward gears, which slows your vehicle and assists you in controlling your vehicle when descending a slope. The amount of downshift braking provided varies based on the amount you press the brake pedal."
