Useless article. Anyone that is a regular on this forum could have come up better thoughts than this jackwagon. There will be an all electric Maverick. Interior options, different package to replace the FE. If I were going to write an article I would write how the Maverick should have been the Ranger II as it is most related to the old Ranger than anything else.

Of course everyone wants an Awd hybrid. They need to come up with a better FX4 package with more lift and the Bronco Sport Badlands package.

The reason why many people buy the Maverick is because it's smaller than other trucks and works well for what they need it for.

Make it bigger and that advantage disappears. If I wanted a mid size or full size truck, I'd have bought one.

I think it will be refined. Specifically electronics and interior. But no size change for some time. Remember it shares the platform with other relatively new vehicles. No I did not read the article.

All the Jalopnik love here makes me laugh😆

While I'm not in a hurry to join the all electric bandwagon, I am impressed by how compact the Ford motor is:

https://carbuzz.com/news/fords-eluminator-crate-motor-is-back

I could see that happening in a 2023 Maverick, as well as the 3 cylinder 1.5 liter ecoBoost engine.

What exactly would Ford gain over exisitng 2 engines by going with the slug 1.5 Dragon motor?
I could see them going with the 1.5 to maintain the $20k price point, while increasing the Hybrid to start at $23k.

I'd love to see other auto manufacturers enter the foray of compact unibody pickups that get excellent gas mileage (I'm looking at you, Toyota!).

I’d venture an improved hybrid power plant would happen about the time there would be a refresh. A PHEV would be a valid option and there’s likely room for a full electric version for at least a temporary run.
They really can’t leave the ICE format, not for a long while. The Maverick needs to remain compact and affordable to remain relevant.
