Did a test this evening. I wired up a 12V electronic device and ran the truck for a short trip - device was on (LED light glowing), pulled in the garage and turned off the truck and pulled out the key and started the stopwatch on the iPhone.
I DID NOT LOCK THE VEHICLE with the keyfob or manually.
20 minutes later LED still on
40 minutes later LED still on
60 minutes later LED still on
AND I almost stopped the test at this point thinking maybe it doesn't automatically shut off unless you lock the truck BUT
90 minute mark - LED went off, confirmed power shut off
So if you pull up to the campsite and pull the key out you could use your 12V bed accessory outlet for 90 minutes.
I'd love to have someone else confirm this with their truck.
I'm going to do more testing and see if the device will continue working for that length of time if under load at different points. In my initial test the draw would have only been for the LED light in standby mode.
NEXT TEST - How long does power stay on if I lock it with the keyfob?
