Good afternoon!

Someone canceled their order for an XL 2.5L Hybrid 4 days ago, and I was lucky enough to snag it up with only 20 miles on it. I love this truck so much! Literally the perfect vehicle for me, and I love getting 42+ MPG.

However, I saw a puddle when I got home, but I thought maybe it was from using the AC. Yesterday, at 180 miles, I realized it was leaking a ton of oil & coolant. Leaving puddles at my house and office. Also, smelt oil from the cab when I had the fan on.

I checked the dipstick, it was at the very bottom. I took it to my Ford dealer today, they said it was coming from the back of the engine (Head gasket?). They gave me a loaner vehicle and said they would keep me updated on repairs.

Sorry for the bad photos, I originally took a video, but not sure how to upload it.

Not really sure what to think! Any opinions?

I don't think I did any damage, but just hoping I didn't get a lemon.

Thank you!

It sucks, but mistakes during fabrication and assembly do happen. Hopefully, they'll get it fixed up in a few days and you won't have any other issues for a long time.

Blown head gasket or a bad rear main seal. The incredible amount of oil says rear main, the coolant says head gasket.

Was the 'oil' on the dipstick milky in color at all?

How many miles since purchase and what happened during to first 20 miles?

Never mind that doesn't matter - Push for NEW ENGINE and don't let up on demanding a new engine.

This sucks. Are you sure there is coolant leaking? The rear main seal looks like the oil issue. The coolant could just be low from the dealer failing to top it off during PDI. I would add an extended warranty from Granger Ford🙄

Oh My that's not good. Hope the dealer gets it all to your liking very soon.

You need a new engine. DO NOT settle for anything less than that or you will be paying for it out of your own pocket eventually.

The fact that this was not caught during both QA at the factory and PDI at the dealer is concerning, assuming it was an issue then.

With modern day tolerances in manufacturing and quality control, this is completely unacceptable. Tell them you want a new engine, and if they don't get rid of this truck ASAP.

Thanks, everyone! I am going to call in the morning and enquire about any news and possibly a new engine.

I really planned on taking super good care of this truck and keeping it until ~200k, or upgrading for a newer Maverick model in the future.

I don't think anybody else drove this before me. It only had 20 miles when I test drove it for the first time. I just kept calling every dealership until a canceled order opened up.

@PNWMaverick

The oil in the dipstick looked alright to me, really low. However, I could definitely tell it was leaking coolant and oil. The puddles at my office were brown, but they turned shiny green. The liquid coming out definitely looks like oil+coolant as well.

That being said, for the 200 miles I have had the truck, I absolutely love it! Better gas mileage than my Toyota Crayola, way more room, having a bed is handy, rides smoother, etc. Still love this truck!

Yes sir! I will definitely call in the morning and check on the status. I will tell them I have been heavily advised to enquire about a new engine as well. Thank you!

imum of a free extended warranty.
With this description I change my earlier prognosis to a bad head gasket. The extent of the damage is unknown. I now believe you deserve a new engine or a minimum of a free extended warranty.

Worst case scenario, order MY23 and and sell this one for a profit 🤣
I will definitely call or go up there tomorrow and ask about it. Do you think a new engine would lesser the value of the vehicle? Or cause it to not live as long? Or am I overthinking?

I've swapped out transmissions myself before with bad luck later on, so not sure.

Edit: Also worth noting, the dealership has been absolutely awesome to me so far. First time working with them, and they've been incredible. I don't think this is at all their fault
