I purchased an aftermarket bed extender from Amazon that said it would fit the Maverick. There is a video online that says the aftermarket bed extender will fit.
I spent about an hour putting on the brackets. This was not an easy task to do. You can not get your hands in the very small slot to hold the brackets after you remove the tail lights. You have to figure a way to attach the bracket so the three screws will go thru it. Then you have to figure a way to get a washer and bolt on each of the three screws without them falling into the bumper. I finally decided if I use double sided tape and attach the parts to my finger I could do this.
Assembling the unit requires 2 people. I tried to do it my self, and it took me over an hour to assemble.
After assembly, I decided to install the extender. After adjusting it to the right size, it fit in the brackets perfectly. I was very happy with the quality of the unit and the fit. The extender was laying on my tail gate.
Now my happiness went to sadness. I tried to lift the cover and put it in the truck bed, and it would not go. The two metal sides of the roll up extender track (See Photos) block the bed extender from flipping over. There is no way to move the medal sides of the roll up cover track.
It should be noted, the Ford OEM Bed Extender is made so it does not hit the medal sides of the roll up cover track.
