EPA rating is base on mixed highway driving does it not? Which means they include driving up grades. If you drive on the flat lands and do a lot of highway driving it's not hard to exceed the rating. I get 4-5MPG better than my vehicle is rated for most of the time, unless I head into the mountains, then it goes down like a rock in a lake.
EPA testing doesn't include any grades because it's done on a Dyno. The ratings are based on five litmus tests (city/cold start, highway/warm engine, high speed, warm weather w/ac, and cold weather w/heat) th at measure fuel use and emissions. There raw numbers are fed through an algorithm based on weight and wind coefficients.

Why so much interest in the hybrid? Just curious. Lower hp. Is mpg difference that important to many? Or is it cost?
Because I just drove 410mi in our V8 F150 and used $98 of gas to do absolutely nothing this maverick couldn’t do at 25 mpg EcoBoost or 37mpg Hybrid.

Now that the hybrid is sold out, think again about the eco. If it will mostly be a road trip truck, mpg hwy is only 3 mpg less. 250hp engine is also more fun and better for passing.
True, If you like a little get up and go then the hybrid is not for you. I drove a fusion hybrid because it was the only new ford on the lot when I ordered mine and it wasn't terrible but it was doggish.

Yes to the mileage, as well as the fact that it is still a Ford truck and something my wife looked at and felt comfortable replacing her Hummer with. Our Maverick will be replacing an H3 that we couldn't use for much of anything except driving into town, and with bad gas mileage at that, since the internal space also didn't fit our needs. This vehicle will take some of the burden off our F-150 Supercrew on longer trips that we don't need to haul as much stuff (the wife's cosmetics, the wife's toiletries, did I mention cosmetics?)

I only do city driving with some stop and go thrown in. Only need fwd and the lower starting price gives me a Hybrid XLT/Lux/CoPilot for $27k It is the perfect vehicle for me.

You ordered July 1, that was before the long line. Sorry Dan!! Yes, we get it the world is different but communication is easy with emails. Here is Ford's promise to you that they are breaking:

In the Oct 21 Ford email that gave us the free stuff, there was no apology for the hybrid delay. It said "Your 2022 Maverick Hybrid pickup will be delivered next year, and rest assured that we'll continue to keep you updated." Next year can be Jan or it could keep getting delayed to next summer. This email did not explain why the dates keep getting bumped or why already built hybrids are still sitting at the factory.

Notice the ecoboost got shipped mid Sept not long after EPA was issued while the hybrid EPA was released weeks ago but already built trucks are still on hold and won't be delivered for another 1 1/2+ months into Jan.

I asked my dealer what the real reason for the delay and he and told me he does not believe the EPA is still an excuse but Ford has not even told him why. He seemed a little upset because with so few cars to sell, this is holding up his commissions. Seeing his bare lot, I actually feel bad for him.

The eCVT was my number 1 choice. I love CVT so smooth.
Second is City MPG because that's where I drive
Third is Naturally aspirated, Multi port fuel injection - easy to service. 4th is power - very similar to the turbo ( just a second slower 0-60 ish. ) What do you think of my reasons?

In light of current gas prices, the answer to the original post should be evident. You can always make a safe bet on higher gas prices. Never hurts to choose your vehicle with that in mind ;)

I had this conversation with my neighbor. Last year he went out and bought a Raptor, when I told him I have a Maverick on order he couldn't understand why. I told him gas prices will always go up, never down. Now fast a year and look where we are, his commute is 35 miles one way. Last night he wanted to know more about the Maverick.. LOL It cost him over $100 to fill his tank.

1. The performance is not much different then the eco.
2. MPG is great!
3. Has an eCVT. Very reliable and smooth!
4. No turbo. Every person I know that has had an engine with a turbo has eventually run into issues.
5. The price is right!

The only issues I've had with modern turbo cars was dumb things.

My BMW 330i using cheap plastics tubing

My M5 no issues at all, even tho the twin turbos are in the middle of the V and extra heat they cause.
