I agree with you there. But that only affects delivery not scheduling. Having VIN and dealing with logistical delays after is far easier to swallow than feeling like your order is completely ignored. Same end result? Probably close, but the customer experience would be improved.I do believe that if they did have the parts to build all of the orders that the allocation ordeal would be put by the wayside. There is no way Ford would sit on thousands of built units over allocation issues. I think there's more of an issue with people ordering multiple models that they're never going to buy. Good for Ford and the dealers but bad for their customers.
You see this in many sectors with old technologies/methods unable to adapt to new trends.
