What good does it do to be able to just get back in the truck. YOU STILL NEED A KEY TO START IT
The thought is, you just leave your keys and such in the truck while your out messing around. Id be worried about someone breaking out a widow, use the keys you left behind, and your truck is gone.

This would be a first for Ford. I ordered 251 days ago on June 19th. So there has many people put in front of me already. I think I have a better chance of seeing God do the Macarena then I do at getting my truck anytime soon.
As long as it's not the Lambada...that's the forbidden dance!

So what happens if you ordered a 2022 after the Hybrid cutoff so you ordered a 2.0, but really wanted a hybrid. Will they at least allow you to change to a 2023 Hybrid? This happened to my son.

If you have an build date, March 28th, could you still be pushed to a 2023? Lariat, Luxury, 360, hybrid.
If you have a build date you are all set. I have the same config and the same build date. Our Mavs will be cousins.

It is good to have the keypad in case you lock your keys in the vehicle by mistake. That happened to me years ago with my 2012 Focus hatchback when I was on a road trip to Wildwood NJ. I stopped at a gas station to put ice in the cooler in back. I set my keys inside the back hatch as I was putting ice in the cooler. Just as I shut the hatch I realized the keys were inside. My Focus was always quirky. Sometimes when you shut the hatch it wouldn't lock automatically, sometimes it would. This time it did and I was locked out. Had to call a tow truck and have them come and get into my car. So I was stuck there for 3 hours altogether. So I ended up adding a Ford keypad. I added one to my 2018 Escape as well just in case. They run off a battery (supposed to last 10 years). Guessing the one on the Maverick is similar and is not wired.

When I contacted the corporate office, they were under the impression that the constricted parts, mainly chips, would be back in stock and available to complete ALL orders within the next 90 days. They didn't want to say for sure, obviously. No one will put money on that bet. "The maverick hybrids require 4 chips and no other vehicle being built uses that many" which is why they're more affected by the chip shortage. (Build less broncos and use those chips?)

If your DEALER contacts you about changing your order to remove some of the constricted additions, your "priority level", "place in line" and "order date" won't be affected. They also said dealers get a list of customers to contact to make changes, it isn't necessarily all orders that would need these changes to speed up production.

If YOU contact the dealer and edit your order, your "order date" and 'priority level" will stay the same (unless you change body types/trims), but you MAY go to the "bottom of the queue", however that isn't necessarily going to happen, and it isn't necessarily going to be a big enough delay in the grand scheme to be a major concern. They weren't able to say with complete certainty that your "place in line" will be affected if you contact them with changes.

The dealership said if they change a spray in liner to a drop in, they have to remove any tool boxes and add in a cleat system (which the dealership said is also a constricted addition, but I'm not sure that's right.) I went with no liner and will have added locally. Completely removed bed covers, and protective hood/fender film, with the intention of adding aftermarket. I kept the copilot 360 because that can't be installed afterwards and is an important safety feature.

It's frustrating when these memos are explained well enough that there wouldn't be multiple interpretations. It's hard on customers. I'm a first time new car buyer and I'm anxious about the whole process, trying to stay patient, which is easier when I have all the information. I need reassurance that the process is on track, even if there are delays. Also, I didn't know if specific dealerships are more likely to get orders filled first, such as going to BRANDON FORD in Florida, who are a top seller (if not the top) in Florida vs the smaller dealership I went to. Or that the minimum to reserve an order was so low.
Good info thank you, you mentioned that dealers are given a list of customers to contact... my dealer has communicated with me pretty well, but i haven't been contacted about removing the lux package or 360cp is their silence a good thing or not. ?....late Aug. hybrid order here.

I ordered a hybrid Lariat lux on 10/6/21 and gave up waiting. I'm trading my Crosstrek for a Hyundai Elantra Hybrid tomorrow. If/when the truck is ever built I'll figure out what to do then.

If I get pushed to 2023 model year I am hoping they change the dark navy interior to black or charcoal gray.
Assuming the over sticker pricing holds, take the truck and immediately flip it. If you refuse delivery the dealer will jump for joy and sell it for sticker + 5k. Better for you to make the money than the dealer. Or inform the dealer you'll refuse the truck if you pay me.

It is unlikely a negative change would take place. Ford will (likely) make small adjustments to MY23. Things I expect to see: quality improvements, 60/40 rear bench, 10 inch monitor, new colors, and some safety features. It’s possible those are negative changes to you, but the majority will find them positive or insignificant.
Those would all be positive changes, but sometimes content does disappear over the course of a model run. I would not be happy with the disappearance of things, I'm OK with additions.

Interesting scenario. I wonder whether Ford would allow that change and still keep the original order date?

There's a "wish I had done something differently" check box on 2022 to 2023 conversion form.

Always a possibility but I’m not sure what could disappear. The truck is about as featureless as you can get.

Heated steering wheel, the ability to get spray-in liner, B&O audio.. any number of possibilities on the lux package if the chip shortage is persisting. GM has ditched heated seats in some cars. There is plenty that could go away.

I just need a full-size spare and a hitch, no tow package. How hard is that. Told dealer to drop spayed in liner.
