There’s no plug in at all underneath the truck for adding and plugging in any kind of pigtails.
When you lower the tailgate and unscrew the two screws that hold the tail light assembly in and remove the tail light assembly, you will see the pigtail located at the bottom. This is just held together like any other pigtail with a plastic locking clip.

It T’s into the taillights so it should work if the bronco sport taillight plugs are the same as the Maverick.

I you search bronco sport trailer light you will see an aftermarket box that gets signal from OEM lights but power from battery.
I had to use one of those aftermarket boxes on my F-150 with no OEM hitch.

Hotwiring a 4-pin trailer connector to the taillights resulted in the turn signals not flashing at all due to the increased electrical load. Old truck, so the turn signals flashed with a relay.

Might not be a problem with new vehicles that probably have the BCM flash the turn signals and/or with trailers with LED taillights.

Update to the update.

Unless your truck came with the wiring harness, there's not anything you can add right now to make it work, including "hot wiring", or connecting anything with a pigtail.

I spent several hours with the Shop Foreman at the local Ford dealer this morning. He researched the schematics, made printouts, and went out to my truck and inspected it. He opened the fuse box, and there are certain fuses that are not included in the fuse well, and no connector inside those certain spaces to push them in place. Ford specifically eliminated that to save money unless you ordered the towing option. There isn't any additional wiring harness and no adapter installed, and that means no way to connect either a 4 pin or 7 pin harness.

The only way to have lights on your trailer is to buy those Road Genie magnetic emergency lights and turn the flashers on/off when you're using your trailer.

No backyard mechanic tricks will work, and there's no after market light kit that will work at this time.

I think you give up too easily. Where there is a will there is a way especially with some of the hackers that are modifying these trucks now. It is just trailer lights not a Mars rover. Keep trying it is not over. I am willing to bet $90 that the Curt #C47WR kit for the Bronco Sport is plug and play.

No, I’m not giving up too easily. You have to recognize that it’s not equipped to add the lights as it stands right now. I’ve been researching this for three weeks, and I’m accepting what the facts are as it stands right now.

I ordered the magnetic Road Genie emergency flashing red lights to use for now.
I still have an XLT with CP360 and the lux pkg on order, and when that comes in, I’ll be selling this one, so I’m not too worried about the lights now. Time to put my time and energy to better use elsewhere.

Ron, the kits for the Bronco Sport plug "in line" of the tail light bulbs, no cutting of the harness. This is the normal aftermarket process. Check out ETRAILER.COM for wiring kits for the 2022 Bronco Sport. TK46FR and C47WR. I personally have not installed either but have read the Bronco Sport and Maverick have the same connectors.

I’m done. If someone else has success that way, let me know. After spending a few hours with the shop foreman where he thoroughly researched the schematics and parts, and inspecting my Maverick, I’m satisfied with what he said and physically showed me on my truck.

Take it to a Hitch shop. Your dealer guy probably knows squat and is likely totally wrong.

This one is for bronco sport but it’s likely the same pigtails for the taillights. Just buy this and plug it all in.
NOTE: I installed one like this that plugs into existing tail lights (mine was on a 2006 RAV4 and was made by Curt also). Do not overlook the fact that a hot wire has to be run from the 12 volt fuse panel or battery to power the trailer as the device only detects what's happens on the vehicle circuits and causes current on the new hot wire you have to DIY INSTALL to power the trailer. (Be sure to run a heavy enough wire to power inverter or whatever you may want in addition!)

NOTE: This is from link given for bronco:
  • Includes a tail light converter to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer
    • Powered module connects directly to battery to avoid overloading vehicle's electrical system
  • Constructed using surface-mount technology (SMT) for consistent, reliable performance
    • Maximizes trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat
    • Ensures superior operation in rough road conditions
  • Comes with dust cap for 4-way flat connector

Specs:

  • Maximum amperage:
    • Stop/turn lights: 5 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 7.5 amps per circuit
  • Limited 1-year warranty

Throw it against the wall and see if it sticks.

This is an update to a post I made a few weeks ago, and is information for those of us who bought a Maverick w/o the 4 pin wiring harness and tow/hitch from the factory for $100.

To recap my situation, I ordered a Maverick XLT with CP360 and the lux package on 15 October. Still not in production, I decided to do a search at the end of January all along the SE USA. What I found was an XL that a customer ordered, but had to cancel. He ordered the spray in bed liner and hard top, trifold tonneau cover. He did not order the hitch.

After I purchased it, I found an OEM hitch/receiver, which was installed today. The shop specializes in hitch and wiring installation. They looked everywhere for a wiring harness, OEM, and after market, and there’s not any being made. Furthermore, there’s nowhere to plug in a wiring harness, and Ford doesn’t recommend doing a Hotwire installation by cutting and splicing into any existing wires, as it will void the warranty.

So, for those of us that have a Maverick w/o a hitch, you can buy an OEM hitch, but there’s currently no wiring harness available, nor any place to plug into.

The Maverick doesn’t come pre-wired to install a hitch, so that pretty much sums it up. First hand info from Ford was gathered by the specialty shop, and I’m passing this along for those that want to add a hitch.
Yikes. So what did you do?
