Thought Maverick owners would be interested in learning more about the competition.

HA, Classic. Believe it or not, I purchased a '86 Ranger that year, like the one in the video except a different color. Hum, what a coincidence, they complained about paint back in '86 and we have owners of the Maverick complaining about paint today in 2022....

Rangers used to be real sweet vehicle. I had a buddy with a reg cab short bed 4cyl manual. We did a free lift on it, washers and shackle flip. Squeezed on 31s and he followed me down ever trail I took my cj7 with 33 boggers on. Granted i pulled him out more than he pulled me out, but he still made it. Cant say that about new Rangers, they would never fit down the best trails.

I had an 88 Ranger looked just like this except it was blue. The first Ranger Raptor. Never went off roading with it. LoL

That was my buddies exact Ranger except the bull bar and the Marschall Lights. 2.3 5spd had a 1' stack of welded washers under the front spring, and flipped the shackle hanger on the rear. gave him 1" front 1.5" rear lift and 31x10.50r15 TSL Super Swampers. It was a pretty good truck. Got him to work and on the trails.

Isuzu? That's a blast from the past. I've had five. A VehiCross and 3 Troopers. The last one was an V8 Ascender, which was only an Isuzu in name only. One of the most badge engineered vehicles ever: Chevrolet TrailBlazer/GMC Envoy and XUV version/Oldsmobile Bravada/Buick Rainier/Saab 9-7X/Isuzu Ascender. The V8 in that thing was amazing. I was sad the day I totaled it into a deer crossing the highway outside Bismarck, North Dakota.

Had an '88 Trooper and a '91 Pickup. Both rock solid, and about as fast as a rock too. Funny thing is, I'm starting to look for a Trooper now for a project vehicle.
Never had anything that they tested in the above video, but did have a 1982 Brat (with the bed seats) I'd take to the beach.

Wow, 12 -14 second 0 - 60 times. The Ranger base shown in the video was around $11k. Now 36 years later and the base price of the Maverick is 20K w/o delivery and much better 0 - 60 times. Man, it is nice to be able to buy a Maverick today.
