I voted not interested because I feel the only way I would buy it wasnt an option. That is would be AWD via the addition of 1 or 2 electric motors to the rear axle. That would increase its total power and performance.

I really dont know why manufacturers and hotrodders arent making everything 2wd into AWD hybrids with wheel hub motors for rwd vehicles and electric axles for fwds? Increase performance and capability and allow for reduced carbon output? No brainer!

I would be interested, but it would depend on several other factors.

(All comparing hybrid FWD to AWD)
What is the cost difference for the upgrade?
What is the difference in power?
Is 4K towing available in the AWD version?
If so what would that cost?
As long as I'm tossing ideas, how about FX4?
If so what would that cost?

I'm already at about 31K with my build as it sits, more if I ordered now since prices went up. Not really interested in spending much over that, so even if they make it they will likely price me out of getting it.

This is the best answer. The AWD Prius with electric only on the rear is what most people need AWD for, just a slight boost to the rears up to 15kph or so, or that slight boost when front slippage is detected. This would greatly reduce all that extra weight and parts to bother having the entire drivetrain of the ICE connecting to the rear. I’d buy this or a mod of this if the price wasn’t too bad. Maybe $5k CAD more over FWD but that could be optimistic.

If these reasonable requests were met, I'd happily trade my '22 AWD ecoboost!

Did you not see the "No, I prefer the 2WD Hybrid" option in the survey?

There are so many cars that would benefit from a conversion, with hub motors, small battery pack, throttle and wheel speed sensors, and a big alternator. I would take and old supercharged Pontiac Grand Prix, or maybe a convertible Sebring, maybe a SVT Contour or Taurus SHO. They wouldnt need to be super powerful, but any FWD car from the 80s or 90s would be awesome with a 40hp boost at low speeds. Not to mention making them driveable in the winter. Rwd muscle cars would be awesome too. Great for winter driving, and have extra power to get off the line without losing traction.

Honestly I need to start hassling the Dirt Every Day and Roadkill guys about this. It seems right up their alley. Maybe the two of them could make a 2 car challenge out of it. Who can build fastest, best offroad, and most efficient home made hybrid.

I love it, or even the Donut media guys- they pump out so much content but could use more actual car mechanical mods.

If I had to do it over again, I would seriously consider it but, would have to do a test drive since I generally hate CVT's.

I wonder if I could upgrade the turbo. EB awd all day. I would also appreciate a manual trans option

it will also have a noticeable drop in MPG going to AWD.. Just something to consider.
Not necessarily. The rear drive would be another electric motor on the rear axle. (See the AWD Toyota Sienna).

Would they copy that or what the escape currently uses? Not to say it's inefficient just that Ford will most likely stick to a already available system to keep cost low

Ford and Toyota developed the current hybrid eCVT system together (Have since parted ways), so I would expect a lot of similarities. Using an electric motor on the back axle eliminates the need for any kind of drive train and differential. I would think it's the smart and easier way to go, but engineers love to make things complicated, so who knows.

Ford utilizes both. Mechanical AWD on the Escape Hybrid and electric AWD on the Lincoln Corsair Hybrid.
