Good news, bad news. The salesman told me it was damaged and then sold it to someone else!

Look what just arrived with a note that says “your business and opinions truly matter to us. We apologize that the ball was dropped, we want you to know that we are taking this to extreme levels of coaching for our employees. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if there is anything I can do to assist in the future.” From the executive assistant at GY.

I wonder if they think I’m going to take down my review or start referring customers to them lol?

Sorry, but that's pretty Lame.....I think they could do a LOT better to win over your good graces.

Did Ford do anything about the dealer being so dishonest?
Highly unlikely, but hopefully, FoMoCo reads these posts and takes notes.

But, then again, maybe some serious discipline has taken place at some level. If so, the two guys involved could be "weeping, wailing and gnashing their teeth."

@GreenLady I left my review for Gary Y Ford. Hopefully others will do the same. We need to stick together!
Mine 1 star as well, with a link back to this thread. And I am Yelp Elite, so it should show prominent in the ratings listed.

Yes, I saw the high reviews but who knows how many relatives posted glowing reports because they got a good deal on a vehicle?

I guess since I’m down here I should go ahead and look into this further. I was just so upset that I couldn’t even think.
I would check, also did they charge more for the first edition, or did they give it to you at the msrp of your original lariat? If not why would they sell your truck if it didn't get damage. Considering they could jackup the price on the First Editon $7.5k to $10k over msrp. Any way I have a CG FE hybrid scheduled. Hope it gets built soon. Yours looks awesome Congratulations.

I'd send that back if that were me
To the Florist or drive an hour to the dealer and deliver it to the General Manager or a Sales Manager (the one who never returned my call)? I don’t think so. 🤔 I’m going to take the flowers to a donation place where I take a lot of stuff and give it to the volunteers who work so hard in the back sorting things.

Hopefully they get exhausted and don’t read the whole thread🤞🏻 I might worry about repercussions😱

They probably would have charged more for a FE, but I would not have bought anything from that dealer, ever! Why would I want to reward their unscrupulous practices with my money?

i hope you find your FE as amazing as I find mine!

Here is the Cliff Notes version of this thread:

1. @GreenLady had a Maverick reserved at GY Ford in Daytona. She did not place an order but had it reserved and had the VIN number and was patiently waiting like the rest of us who had ordered a Maverick or had one reserved that someone else cancelled. She even offered to make a down payment to reserve it but was told it was not necessary.
2. @GreenLady lives in the area but was OUT OF TOWN and GY called her and said her truck had arrived. She left her vacation early making the 8 hour drive from out of state back home. They were aware she was going to be 8 hours away.
3. While on the road back to Daytona she got a call from the dealership with the "good news, bad news" that her truck was really there but damaged and had to be sent back because they could not fix it.
4. She asked for photos and was told there were not any pictures of the damage. She tried to contact them several times by phone after the fact and they would not return her calls (sales or management).
5. She gave them the benefit of the doubt and while disappointed she hoped they were not lying to her.
6. Another MTC member alerted her to a different Maverick available at Bozard Ford in St. Augustine, a completely different dealer.
7. @GreenLady headed over to Bozard and bought a truck from them instead.
8. Another MTC member had the VIN number of the truck in question so he ran it on the CarFax website which stated the Maverick had NOT been damaged and in fact had been sold to someone else on the same day she was driving to pick it up.
9. MTC members began leaving one star Google reviews about GY Ford in Daytona. They replied to EVERY review with a canned/bot statement. The only one star review they did NOT reply to was the one from @GreenLady which is ironic since she is the original customer. As of this day 2/9/2022 they still have not replied to her review. They did attempt to call her on the phone but she did not answer. By then it was too late anyway because she already had a truck from Bozard Ford and probably got a better deal.
10. GY Ford sent her flowers for the mistake.

With all of this said, if Auto Nation Ford in my town fails to deliver (which I don't see why they wouldn't but you never know) I will be in touch with Bozard Ford and do business with them. It's only a 4-5 hour drive from my part of Florida and I would rather drive 5 hours to an honest dealer than 5 minutes to a dishonest one (again, not talking bad about Auto Nation because this is my first dealing with them and so far they have been honest and up front about pricing on my order).

The "extreme level of coaching" for their employees consists of the following topics:
1. Not all female customers are as gullible and weak as you think.
2. Carefully guard VINs until after the deal is done.
3. How to cover your tracks when lying to customers.
4. Here's what you can do to customers and still not get us sued.
5. Damage control - more useful lies.
You forgot "Advanced Gaslighting" and "CYA 101."

What you haven't found out yet is they charged those flowers to the credit card you gave them.

Flowers. Hah. Not even a real explanation for their scumbag move of not being forthright about having sold it. We value our dealer markup more than your business or opinion, but here have a $20 bouquet of flowers.
