As Ronald Reagan said when dealing with the USSR, trust but verify.I hate to say that I believe the salesman and maybe I shouldn’t.
Thanks! I think I will check my Ford pass garage where I entered the Vin number and see what that shows.I think that your salesman should be able to send you a copy of the vehicle history report for your VIN showing the shipping, the arrival, and the return.
I say "I think" because I've never seen a report for a vehicle in that situation. But they track all the other movements so I'm assuming they track returns.
So last night I get a call from someone at the dealership thanking me for my business. I replied I hadn’t completed a transaction there yet and was still waiting to hear about my truck delivery. He said it would be arriving at the dealer today, Wednesday, and my salesman would be giving me a call. I thanked him, hung up and started packing for my 8 hour road trip. I was so excited I got up at 3 AM and left by 4:30 AM. As I was driving through Jacksonville my salesman called and I was so excited! He said “I have some good news and some news that might make you a little upset.“ Then he said the truck arrived but it had been damaged on the transport truck and the roof was so damaged they had to return it! I was stunned and couldn’t say anything for a minute or two and then I just blurted out that I was not a little upset, I was a lot upset! He apologized and said they would give me highest priority for another Lariat that was unclaimed. I’m afraid that did not make me feel any better! Back to the waiting game![]()
The salesman said it was so badly damaged and it was the roof that their dealership could not fix it and had to return it. I have asked for pictures and I will check the Vin number. They don’t return trucks they get fix, demand pictures and ones that shows your vin#
I guess since I’m down here I should go ahead and look into this further. I was just so upset that I couldn’t even think.![]()

Returned to Who/Where/Why?
The Plant?, The Transport Company?
What is supposed to happen when your damaged truck arrives at whatever destination the dealer is sending it to?
Will it be repaired?
Will the factory build you a new one?
Why wasn't this sent to a local Ford Body shop and repaired?
This really smells bad and I too wonder if what they said really happened.
I would ask for pictures of your truck showing the damage along with the VIN number.
I would also call Ford and inquire what steps are going to happen to get you your truck in a timely fashion and in new not damaged/repaired condition.
My truck hasn't been delivered and I see very little information in the FordPass app. The Vehicle History Report is something that only the dealer can see. But they can print you a copy and email it to you. It looks like this:Thanks! I think I will check my Ford pass garage where I entered the Vin number and see what that shows.
What I am doing is keeping our order, which now won't be delivered before end of April, and still pursuing a truck avail even if it isn't exactly what we ordered. My DH needs the moonroof b/c he is 6'7" and needs the bit of extra head space, also needs CoPilot360 he is a shitty driver haha. I think it is reasonable to be able to sell the 1st bought truck, maybe even for more than we buy, when the ordered truck arrives. If I come across a Hybrid I will let you know. I may even look outside FL and fly him out and he drives back lol.Yes, I have been doing that but so far nothing other than this one that is now being returned. The worst part is I turnEd down one because it did not have cruise control![]()
I would tend to believe that it had been inhabited or in an inhabited rail car.Is there a possibility that YOUR truck was sold?
Expediting?Bummer, Sorry to hear. I agree to get pictures, but I am also curious about how they plan on expediting a new vehicle for you.
I would expect if it was damaged by rail transport it would have been inspected and refused acceptance at point it was taken off rail car and railroad would buy it but maybe if dealer refuses it the trucking company would need it for their insurance claim unless they can pin damage on rail. In any case it's likely many "confidential" pictures have been taken!![]()
