You also cannot change if your order is locked by the Region (Priority Code 2) or if you have been scheduled.
That must be what my dealer means when they said my order is locked by Ford (since Dec) and cannot be changed. It must have moved from Priority 10 to Priority 2. I guess that's good news?

Yes and No. Some of us have been at Priority 2 for several months now. Fingers crossed though that you get a build date soon.

Didn't have a chance to listen to Tim's "Tech Tuesday" last night, but am listening now. Tim did say in his broadcast that all First Editions will be built, as they can only be built as MY22. That is good news for those that ordered the FE prior to the cutoff. I ordered the FE Hybrid on 6/15, confirmed with email from Ford, with all the constraints (SIBL, Co-Pilot 360, Rapid Red, etc). After listening to Tim's broadcast, he did say that the FE Hybrid's should be pulled ahead of other packages due to the FE package. So, hopefully that is good news that holds true going forward.
Excellent news for those of us that ordered the FE model. I am not going to really believe it though until I get a build date! :)

Why would they offer you a credit ? They would just say - uh you will get the truck FASTER if you settle for less than you ordered. With their backlog they will just move to the next order.
They could just offer some Ford Pass points

My job involves managing expectations while my organization requires I be as vague as possible.
The main drivers for this from a business perspective are:
* Telling people of major delivery delays up front will prevent orders.
* Getting orders in makes potential revenue appear better, thus making shareholders happier.
* Once customers place orders, they're more likely to hold onto hope since they feel committed.
* People are more likely to tolerate minor delays once they get order confirmations. So, bumping things a few weeks at a time creates smaller pills for customers to swallow.
* If the situation is bad (such as a major chip shortage), the vendor still needs to appear to be in control of the situation, regardless of the factors which are out of their control.

In the end, it comes down to keeping the customers on the line as long as possible. I'm not saying the entire Ford organization believes in this kind of practice, but the directive from above is typically not to give out too much information which is going to just create more headaches for management. Give customers enough information to let them know we're working on it, without promising an exact delivery date until we are 100% certain we have the correct date.

At a certain point what is happening here and based from some comments by other members what has happened with other Ford launches may reach a larger audience. Then the message in the market place becomes, "Don't order from Ford because their ordering process is a mess". Now you can't get your order in the first place, and all those bullet points are now meaningless. Also if the situation is bad and you communicate nothing it can also make you appear incompetent, like you don't understand nor know what to do with the situation, or perhaps just dismissive of the needs of your customer.

What's your basis for the assertion that those aren't customer orders? If anything being the front end of the new MY I'd imagine a large percentage were. And Ford is reporting across the lineup 37% of sales were custom order deliveries.
Because there are plenty of broncos sports in stock - my dealer has six in stock that you could walk right up and purchase rather than wait months for them to build one. The production of bronco sports has been double of the Maverick from the very beginning. I'm not sure why you would "assume" many were customer ordered. How many dealerships with bronco sports sitting on their lot would say or will be happy to order one for you and you can wait 6 months to a year........

I called my dealer about dropping the hard roll up bed cover and they said the same thing. If 2% are only being built with that cover I'm probably stuck until 2023 anyway. What dealer did you purchase from?
I ordered from Chapman. Have the bed extender, also at 2%. I wanted to drop it, but was told the same thing. If only 2% of vehicles with these options are being built, how could we possibly be scheduled any later honestly? I wish I could drop it, but they insist on not changing anything and telling me it creates a constraint and will push back.

Went to my Ford dealership today and talked to the owner. He looked up my order and said I had the SIBL and a full size spare tire that was holding up my build. He did notice that Ford had looked at my order and passed it over. My 2014 Ford Focus was in for transmission repair. Can't get the parts to repair it. He gave me a phone number to call to complain but it did no good. Time to get serious about looking at a new vehicle to buy.

I ordered from Chapman in Horsham. I called today and spoke with someone else. They said they can change it if I send it in writing but they don't recommend it and they don't guarantee I wont be pushed to 2023. Pretty stupid

Interesting. Yes - mine is from Chapman in Horsham as well.

I also got the full size spare, I didn't realize that was a constraint?

The full size spare was flagged by Ford as being a constraint item. Holding up my order.
Seems like an odd constraint is what I mean.
