Hood gas struts for Maverick

This is something I would be interested in to get rid of the hood prop for my Maverick. I don’t see why it would not fit because the Maverick and Bronco Sport are the same chassis.

I hope they fit because I personally prefer the gas struts. For one thing they usually prop the hood up a bit higher which give you more access to the engine compartment.

We talked about this on the Accord forum 9 years ago. On the Accord, there needs to be strengthening of the metal in the area to mount the strut. The V6 hood has it, but not the 4 cyl.

This may not apply to the Mav but if the hood is built in like the Bronco Sport, it should work structurally. Fit is a totally different question.

It's just something to consider. I would check the mounts of the Sport at the dealer and compare to the Mav.

I'm adding tailgate strut but this is one mod I'm skipping.
Prop rods just don't bother me.
I will replace the horn if it is weak. I hate a weak horn.

Having said all of that, These struts look tempting and use factory connections and no drilling.

I thought I read somewhere that the aluminum hood on the maverick was maybe not strong enough to be supported with struts without bending. I'd hate to go to slam the hood down only to bend it where the struts attach.
