Not sure why it's necessary to advertise their price here...

more likely, because of their pricesMany people will probably not buy a car from this dealer because of this post.
Not only is this dealer f_cking with the market adjusted price they are charging double for items...most specifically the Bedliner. And who in their right mind would pay $695 for an extra key or $199 of a set of $45 wheel locks. I'm sorry California. I'd walk my ass off that lot and buy elsewhere.@ Ford of Montebello, SoCal

When I started reading about this issue I did text my dealer and spelled it all out in the text that my cost would only be MSRP(actually a little less as he gave me some of my add ones at his cost instead of retail) plus doc fees, which he confirmed were $344 so I didn’t think that was outrageous from what I have been seeing and then any state taxes unless I just decide to pay those separately. I have a response from him confirming everything so I feel comfortable that I will not be surprised when the time finally comes to finalize everything. Which should be late Spring I am hoping right now.Ford's records show you control the Mav with your DL and signature (even if you gave no down payment) so the dealer has to honor the price on your order form. Think about it, if the order form means nothing, then the dealer would not call you when you truck arrives and sell it to some sucker on the lot +15k.
Check with your atty but IMO basic business law says the order form's offer + your signed acceptance = Contract.
A contract does not need to be 10 pages of fine print to be valid. Someone wrote that he won a court case just based on text messages. If your signed order form at msrp meant nothing it would be the BAIT. Then if the dealer tried to unilaterally make a one-sided decision on some random future price increase after you sign, that would be the SWITCH.
Don't let them bully you into agreeing to a new price by saying they will sell it to someone else if you do not buy it. Don't get mad and walk either, they will probably laugh as you leave. They will tell Ford you canceled and will then have no obligation to you any more.
And do not let them charge you anything that is not on your order form, like dealer adds and ex warranty. Anything the finance manager makes an extra commission on must mean it is overpriced. If you really want a warranty, buy Car Shield or some other program in 3 years. Buying it now would be a waste if you decide to sell the truck before then anyway.
Yeah even I wouldn't pay 15k, but hey, cant hate them for the hustle. And I agree, Markup on a customer order from Ford is not cool. I think one of the other dealership owners on here(Maybe Tim?) said the profit assuming no dealer extras etc is actually pretty low on the Maverick, like 1000-1500? Then again dealers never had good profit on new vehicles to begin with.I'm not a fan of big markups at all, but if a dealer wants to add a few $K to their STOCK units to pad their profits, I can't blame them for trying. 15K is completely insane though.
Having said all that, dealerships shouldn't dare mark up a customer's RETAIL order. The only reason that truck is sitting on their property at all is because the customer had to walk in the door and place the order with them. They're getting a few $K in profit from an MSRP sale when all they had to do was enter a few keystrokes on the computer and send it off to Ford. The vast majority of retail orders required virtually *no* work on the salesman's part, and dealers that try to pull that crap should be named and shamed.
Ok, end rant/
no, it's not. An actual Purchase Order (contract) would have the exact VIN assigned to that exact person's truck on the contract. That happens when your truck arrives and you sign on the dotted line and pay for it in the actual contract.Yes no judge in their right mind would rule that a price agreed to deliver inventory on a PO means nothing and the seller can decide later what random amount to increase the price by.
Your Mav Order Form registered with Ford is your purchase order to buy the truck at the agreed upon price. If a dealer plays games and tried to bully you to even add paint protection not listed on your order, I bet they would not want to have to explain to a small claims court judge why your original order with the price and options you signed for means nothing.
Keep in mind a dealer cannot order stock inventory so the only way to get a Mav on their lot is for a dealer to bully you and try you get you to agree to a 10k ADM or they will sell to someone else +15k. I doubt they care if you get mad and walk because that frees them up to take over control of the Mav you waited months for and sell it right away to someone else with a bunch of dealer installed options and an ADM that can make a XL cost as much as a base Lariat or more.
has nothing to do with Capitalism. Simple supply and demand. Supply is low and demand is high on Mavericks. When dealers have year end clearance sales with big discounts to clear old stock- is that Capitalism to you as well- or supply & demand where the supply of vehicles has been higher than demand for them so dealers have to cut prices to move them?In essence I agree, this is mere testing of the water to see what the market will bear out. And make a huge profit... Capitalism ... like it or leave it by moving somewhere else.
Wait, used cars are, basically, a supply and demand issue and condition of vehicle thing. New vehicles come with a manufacturers MSRP. Much easier to figure out if you’re getting screwed. if someone thinks paying 15 grand over MSRP makes sense then I have a Pet Rock (a gift) from the 1970’s that I’ll happily let go for 5 grand, still looks brand new AND with the original box.Good for that dealership. Make as much money as the market will allow. They aren't forcing anyone to pay for that vehicle. Not a single person.
As soon as the market is back to normal and they can't do this kind of stuff they will come back to being competitive and nobody will remember this event.
If you are against ADM's, you also shouldn't sell your used car for the inflated values out there right now.
