I'm down into the low 20s as it has been extremely cold here in MN, and my trips have been shorter.

'highway' driving can be a bit of a misnomer. The EPA definition is within a defined driving distance, and at defined speeds, # of stops, accelerations and other consistent factors. While a gauge, it does not define what any one person should ultimately expect.

I for example drive about 8 miles one way to target and grocery stores 2-3 times/week. 7 of those miles are on the highway, but that does not mean I get the EPAs highway MPG. Everyone one of those trips is a cold start, short in duration resulting in lower MPG.

Anyway, you can see the impact of the cold weather on my last 3-4 tanks of gas, getting 22-24 consistently.

Since fuelly is calculating for me, it is a true overall number (I just went over 5K miles as well). I find the gauge to read between 1-1.5mpg optimistic, which is reasonable and within expectation (3-5% high). If you look at my individual fuel ups I note what the current tank gauge read, as well as what my overall gauge is reading at.

Averaging 25.5mpg in normal mode, but I try not to exceed 70 mpg on the highway, I keep the auto start engaged, and I do not race off from a stop. If she is doing the opposite of those things, her mpg will <20mpg.
Yep she's no speed demon off the line, likes the auto start/stop and here the traffic flows at 70/75 on our highways.

I’m just under 22 with probably 75% city driving. I’m assuming the weather takes a serious toll on mpgs. (I’m in Maine also).
Good point we all warm up our vehicles for a few minutes (5 to 10 minutes typically) before we head out and she wants her heated seats and steering wheel nice and toasty when she gets in it;)

I've seen 23.04 MPG over 909 miles. I'd estimate 60% city, and 40% highway.

I'm running 87 octane, and would say I drive fairly conservatively.

This is calculated manually. The vehicle computers are always optimistic.

I have 245/65R17 AT tires on my AWD EB. I'm aware the slightly larger tire size impacts the odometer reading, I have not factored that into the mix. Mostly because I don't know how!

Well, to add to my variables - I always have the auto stop/start disabled via switch (autostop eliminator) and I usually remote start it about 3-5 minutes before I get in if it has been sitting cold overnight or after work. Stock Pirelli 225/65s. Don't think tonneau covers really make a difference, but have one. I'm sure it will get better mileage along with the better I learn to drive this turbo.

Ok I saw one thread with people getting 34+ MPG with their AWD. We picked up my Wife’s Maverick XLT AWD on December 23rd, she's put 850+ miles on it and is only getting 19.2 MPG at the moment. She's 60 % Highway (average speed 70 to 75 MPH) and she's using 87 octane. What are you all getting in realistic daily driving and what octane are you using? Thank you all in advance for your info and any recommendations you can share. Lou
3,000+ miles with 26.4 mpg average on 87 octane. AWD FX4 4K tow packages. Guestimate: 70 percent hwy, 30 percent city. stock tires. I do remote start quite often, so it just sits and idles.

In my signature. 4,400 miles, 87 octane, roughly 60/40 city/highway.

My very first tank was 23.63 mpg hand calculated. That’s on aftermarket wheel and tire setup that’s way heavier than stock, and probably 65 to 70% city.

This second tank is going to fall somewhere around 21, and that’s 100% city stop and go with a snow storm couple days mixed in.

Also I’m awd and 4K tow package.

I am surprised to see OP mpg being so low. I think my mavericks going to fall mid to high 20s in most of my daily scenarios and I’m expecting 30 with lighter wheel and tire come summer.

Winter mix gas could be a small factor with lower mpgs, see link.

So here’s mine, a little long, sorry.
I tracked every fill up since new with 15 miles on it. Did the first 4 in normal drive mode, the next 4 in eco, then sport. Just wanted to see the difference. My driving is 75/25, mostly highway, with approximately 1/2 hour-45 minutes of idling each day. I live at 80 on the highway, I don’t pass aggressively though. I try not to do hard takeoffs from lights and intersections, I don’t always take off slowly. So here’s the numbers:

Fill up #1-on regular drive mode-14.546 gal/ 355.1 miles.=24.41 mpg (computer said 25.7)

Fill up #2-on regular drive mode-11.784 gal/ 267.9 miles =22.73 mpg (computer said 24.4)

fill up #3-on regular drive mode-13.789 gal/ 388.8 miles =28.20 mpg (computer said 29.3)

fill up #4-on regular drive mode-12.929 gal/ 342.6 miles =26.5 mpg (computer said 27.6)

the next 4 fill ups are on eco mode.

#5-13.173 gal/ 359.7 miles =27.31 mpg (computer said 28.6)

#6-14.622 gal/ 357.7 miles =24.46 mpg (computer said 25.6) lots of city this round and there was a snow day

#7-12.015 gal/ 319.6 miles = 26.6 mpg (computer said 27.7)

#8-14.105 gal/ 344.4 miles =24.42 mpg (computer said 26.1)

then I started in sport mode and was going to do 4 fill ups on that but stopped at half a tank when the computer mpgs were dropping below 24. While sport mode was fun, it was unnecessary to continue. Who cares what you get if using that mode, it’s just for fun… but WOW it was quick!!!

I should point out, it’s winter here in New England, only had the heat off once, and noticed a good climb in mpgs without the heat running. I also haul lumber occasionally. My preference is to run in regular mode. The better mpgs in eco doesn’t justify the lack of get up and go in eco, too restrictive.

check my math, I’m no math major.

26.4. Awd. Manually calculated which is about 1 mpg less than indicated. Mixed driving, alternating between 87 and 93

i also note approx. 1-1.5 mpg different than the computer avg. yes the colder temperatures do use more fuel consumption itself, along with using defrost/idling to warm up, etc... once it's "broken in" the mileage is better and i live in michigan with awd/fx4 best tanks of fuel i've had since november was 28-ish and i'm currently averaging 25-26 mpg's with approx, 80% hwy (40 mile each way to work setting cruise @ 75mph) and i have over 5500 miles accumulated. Ohh yeah i only use the cheap 87 stuff

I was thinking about her doing the alternate one at each fill up. Good advice 👍 thank you

Mine is getting a little better than that, but I'm about 95% city driving. I picked up mine at the end of November and only have 700 miles. I only live about 7 miles from work but it's all residential, stop lights/signs and hills between here and there. I lean more toward the "Boost" than the "Eco" side of the engine so far anyway (it's just fun). I did notice the few times I got on the highway for any good amount of time that the average starts going up pretty quickly. I reset one time before I got on the highway and was seeing in the 30's for about half an hour before I hit traffic. Also only run 91+ Octane.
Short trips in the cold will really kill mpg! About 10 to 15% decrease below freezing vs.77 F and 20-25% mpg decrease on trips less than 5 miles….
