2005 Chevy Silverado, sounds like it's giving up.
My dealership said this just this morning when I email them "A lot of dealerships are marking up their inventory and even marking them up last minute upon delivery, I've heard of this as well. I can promise Chalmers Ford is not doing any markups from MSRP for customers who ordered their vehicles. Happy New year to you as well, hope you have a great week." I have no build date but I'm going to save my ass with the email.

My DORA is signed by the General Manager & myself, does that mean anything?
Only if there is a total out-the-door price listing all costs otherwise all they could be honoring is what is listed plus ADM charge plus excessive charges for dealer add-ons.

This has happened to other buyers where the dealer purchase contract shows MSRP price and then adds ADM or other excessive fees like sky high Doc fee. The dealer will say look right there on the purchase contract it shows MSRP.

Tim @fordvideoguy has pointed this out.

To remove any risk take the 15 minutes and go to your dealer and have them draw up a "Buyer's Order" that shows all costs and the total out-the-door cost.

Good dealers will not have any issues doing this but bad ones will balk and on delivery screw you over. Mine was a good dealer and had no issues doing a "Buyer's Order".

Why not go in and do a "Buyer's Order".

It seems like a gamble to just hope the email will save your ass as an email is again not a legal contract.

I emailed my dealer about any market adjustments/ADM and this is what they emailed me back:

So the MSRP plus your tax tag doc fees

Which at most would be an additional 1,221.50. [Covering $500 tax, $599 doc and 122.50 for a new tag]

We aren’t participating in that absurd market adjustment being seen all over the place right now.

As far as the paperwork, none is needed right now. Now you’re just playing a waiting game on the production date! Which I’ll let you know once we’re there!”

This was back in October. Hopefully nothing has changed at this place. I do wonder about their allocations because when I go to a 100 mile radius search on Ford’s website for Mavericks this dealership has never had any in that system, which I understand to be customer orders that show up there when shipped. My dealership never has those.

Anyway, I too am really sorry they’re doing this to you. And the fact they said that you’re blackmailing THEM takes some gall. No matter what happens they’ve tarnished their own reputation for a stupid $2500.

I talked with a lawyer, Ford Corporate, and the Ford GM for my area. This was all in regards to the Jim Clck Ford Order I had where they screwed. I can assure you the DORA is not binding.
Hey.. just noticed we live in the same town. Also Yeah Jim Click and Lawley both charged a ADM, but then again I was buying one "Off the lot" so I paid it. But small world.

Definitely small world. If I see you I will probably gawk at your truck. 🤩 You know who it is If you see a guy driving a 2011 Gray Prius drooling.

I ordered mine and was promised no ADM and X plan. They did $1,500 ADM and refused X plan.

Just thought I would share this with the Texas Maverick community.

My vehicle is scheduled to arrive later this month so I went to the dealership to prep paperwork. While I was looking at the price sheet there was a $2,500 "Texas Protection Package" that included paint/leather protection (no exact details on what they are doing to provide protection), vin etching, and window tints.

I pointed out that these things individually don't even add up to $2,500 and my sales man said "this is pretty much a non negotiable for all cars from this dealership, if you had bought this ford as an inventory item we would be charging a much much higher mark up"

Given that I've already been truck-less and waiting for such a long time for the Maverick to arrive, I feel forced to eat this $2,500 markup.

I hope that this will inform others to find a different dealer that isn't going to be predatory on prices given the current state of the supply chain.
He's right that you'd pay a higher markup for an inventory vehicle, but most dealers I've talked to say they don't markup special orders. That's kind of the point of special orders right now. The dealership is limited on how much stock they can get in, but they can basically sell as many special orders as people are willing to commit to. They probably want you to back out so they can sell it to someone else for $5k extra
I would resist as much as possible. Check with other Ford dealers around about their policy. Ultimately though you should have gotten a quote for your total our the door price when you ordered. If you didn't, then they have the upper hand. All you can do is make your complaints known to all who will listen.

I just have the XL Electric Blue or whatever. My buddy bought the Cactus Grey Lariat model off the lot. I did not know the controversy at the time, but these were cancelled orders. I can only assume something shady went on, but well, I already paid, so it is what it is now. TO be honest, I dont see $2500 for a First Edition as worth fighting over. But that is the reality. There is for sure folks in line waiting to buy it with that markup(Or more) if you dont, so you have no leverage. I LITERALLY had folks waiting in the lobby to buy with that ~$5K markup if I didnt. There were two couples behind me. The Lariat was basically the same thing, they were the ONLY Hybrid Mavericks in the whole town as far as I know.

PS if you wanna look at the Maverick I could stop by somewhere, not like its a big town. Im working a bit late this week, but I dont mind someone taking a look at it if they wanna see what it's like.

Scumbag dealer. I know this means nothing now, but I actually stopped at that exact dealership to look at a maverick on the lot that was already sold and obviously I got swarmed by salesman. I asked the salesman if I ordered one from you guys would you mark it up? He assured me it would not be marked up and would be sold at MSRP. Glad I did not end up ordering through them
*** this is a worrisome concern for me as I purchased from a dealership in Iowa, I live in Florida, and I will be flying into IA to pickup the truck (hmm is that why it is called a pickup truck? LOL)... If the dealer pulls this shenanigans, I will be frustrated but I will walk away, and get a flight out the next day. Or have a family member come get me from Illinois.

Haven't read through whole thread, but dealer i bought my Maverick from had almost same markup. When i questioned it, they said it was dealer "options" they put on all cars that hit their lot - a paint protector and an interior protection thing. I guess it's the "Colorado Protection" package. I bought mine from their order list, so asked to have it removed since it hadn't even been built at that time. They removed it without any fuss and i had them write up an Order Sheet and they abided by it. I'm starting to feel lucky i dealt with them with stories like this out there. Interesting that Ford is putting out a "thou shalt not markup" order to dealers on the new Lightning. Need on for the Mav.

Wanna be super clear that this is not expressed to me as a dealer markup, market adjustment, or anything like that. This is a package of things that they are requiring me to buy for $2500.

I mean, haggle, but at the end of the day, $2500 in my opinion isnt worth the time to haggle. I paid a markup off an inventory vehicle and would gladly pay only a $2500 markup just for the chance to have a first edition. My markup for a lot vehicle was $5k, in the end I haggled down from that and it was closer to like $3k, but I still paid it, for a XL model with a lot of nice options added.

Just my opinion of course, but you have to do what you want to do. I dont regret paying a markup because I literally got exactly the truck I wanted and was waiting for, without the year long wait, as I wouldnt have seen my order build and come in until late 2023.

Thanks for sharing that... I just got on with one of their web browser agents and left this message: It is a shame that greed is becoming the new pandemic... I am on a Cl;ub site for Maverick Truck and reading about how your dealership is adding a $2,500 the Texas Protection package to an order for a Maverick. Get read for some really bad publicity! - I also sent them an email off their web site. I suggest more of you do the same... but leave behind bogus phone #s and email addresses...

It's basically a shell game. Still dishonest, unethical business tactics. And you're the victim.
