Yeah I agree as a buyer right now there's not much negotiating power for a in high demand product. Dealerships can easily tell you no to any price reduction and sell it to the next customer in line no problem. The key now is to find the dealership with the lowest markup. 2k markup seems to be pretty good compared to what some are marking up their inventory.Thats the shitty thing. I paid the markup because they LITERALLY had people waiting in the lobby to buy it, with the markup, if I didnt. i wasnt going to wait another year to get my Maverick, but you really dont have any bargaining power when demand is so high.
What is the value of an item? What someone is willing to pay, and frankly there are plenty of people willing to pay the markup.
On a side note I'm glad I decided to get the Maverick even with the 2k markup. Having 2 vehicles with 150k miles I knew I needed to refresh one of my vehicles. A week after getting my Maverick my wife's car decided to start leaking substantial amounts of oil out of the rear main seal. So in hindsight it was the right move.
