I'm a little confused as to when the Mav price went back below $30k msrp. On Ford's website an XL with no options is still over $30k to drive away.

Bill,
I will start out with the $695 acquisition fee is for a lease.
There is acquisition fee if you're buying a Maverick. Deduct $695
Ford (specifically Ford Credit) charges a lease acquisition fee to cover the administrative and processing costs of originating a lease. This standard industry bank fee—typically between $645 and $695—ensures the leasing company is compensated for managing the upfront work of establishing your contract

The slate will also have a destination charge. Will it be $1,800 will be $2,000?? I assure you will be in that range.

Bill you were also starting out with the hybrid. The hybrid is an option now.
The base model is an EcoBoost.

I believe A/C is standard on the slate.
You could be right, I've seen it stated both ways.
Just looked at the Slate site, they say it has HVAC.

The Slate has changed configurations so that might be part of it, so it may depend on when an article was published as to what features it would have as a lot of information seems to be conjecture.
The battery range has changed as well.
I've seen that it has LFP batteries and the more standard toxic EV batteries, but Slate doesn't say which, that I could find.
Until it's actually available, it's vaporware.

Edit: As far as pricing, I saw this caveat at the bottom of the pricing page:
*Pricing excludes taxes, title, license, registration, governmental fees, destination charges, documentation fees, and any optional equipment.
State and local incentives may also be available (or not).

The Slate was never HVAC-less.

And the battery is LFP. Nothing else. Part of they increased the range of the base range battery without charging extended range price.

Yes, Hybrid. I was shooting for the thang most similar to Slate. The ecobooty is only a few hundred $ less, though. As will all comparisons, it should be the total cost to get it in your grubby hands, not just the msrp. Slate may have no or reduced "destination fee" or "acquisition fee", which are in large part paid to the dealership. I think Slate will be like Tesla, and not have third-party dealers.

Yeah they only have one battery option now 205 mile range.
Almost a year ago we had a couple posts about it having air conditioning.

I think the range is still yet to be seen since few EVs achieve their stated range, especially in less than ideal circumstances.

As far as post way back in the day... I've only been around since late last year.

It will be interesting to see how the cheap/inexpensive/affordable EV market goes, with the Slate and Ford's EV truck, which will be interesting. I just read about their new LFP battery factory, which would make their EV more attractive with its significantly less chance of burning up..

They're using base MSRP, before destination and such, because that's the only number we have for Slate.
I believe Slate is like Tesla, and will have no third-party dealers, so there may be no or drastically reduced "destination fee".

Destination fee is set by manufacturer so it will likely be in the same range as any other.

Tesla has a destination fee of almost $1,400.00. ($1390.00)

Yeah I don't think a Slate is going to work well for towing cross-country but that isn't it's use case.
All electric vehicles struggle with towing more than short range; we are way, way off from the energy density being anywhere close to where it needs to be.

These little pickups (Slate and whatever the Ford is) with 2,000 lbs rating and a big disclaimer on that are probably a lot more honest than the Lightning and Cybertruck that were nowhere even remotely close to replacing a 1/2 ton pickup with a gas or diesel engine that is setup to, and happy to tow decent loads.

The light tow rating would be enough for some fun stuff like jet skis, or someone that wanted to run an electric equipment based landscaping business (electric mowers, trimmers, etc on a utility trailer), though.

The Slate vehicle is going to be a toy for the wealthy not a Maverick competitor or a realistic option as a daily driver for the masses.

RWD
0-60 in 8 seconds
I predict this will be a trendy little toy 4th/5th car for affluent customers. Something to show-off & virtue signal. The utility market is also pretty limited. I think it will be a short life. Sorry Slate, RIP...
Yes! This is exactly what I had in mind. I bet I’ll see a lot of them in future years on the coast when we visit during the spring and summer.

They will replace LSVs for some affluent folks.
