YAY! I have had axels replaced TWICE (I am at 66K miles now), Cabin 110 outlet converter replaced. I still have 84K miles and 4 years left on extended waranty. For me, it was a good deal.
This is great to hear! Thanks!

1st make sure it's a real FORD factory extended service warranty, not some dealer's off-brand special (Granger sells the real FORD one, and you can use FORD points to help pay for it too!).

The coverage starts when the vehicle was FIRST TITLED, so you don't get any longer coverage by waiting to get the warranty.. you just pay more, so I suggest getting it sooner rather then later when the price goes up (again).

Cost is the same regardless of trim. The fancier trims have more stuff to break, so the warranty is the best bargain on the highest level trims and options. Consider adding the extra $ lighting rider. I'm told a single headlight on our Lariat cost over $1000!

The Ford factory warranty is low risk (just the up-front costs) and potentially high reward. Worse that could happen is you buy it, and you don't use it enough to cover the costs.

I never got extended warranties until this past year. Vehicles have so much tech in them (not just the drive train, but everything from the safety nannies and sensors to the lights) I don't see me doing much shade-tree work on the newer stuff. Plus, if you buy it now, you are paying 2026 dollars for a repair that might double in price by 2030+.

We have Granger warranties on our 25 Lariat AWD hybrid, as well as my daughter's 25 Escape PHEV.
Thank you! Seems Granger is the way to go.

That is an awful deal - but I have a 8 year, 100k miles warranty and $100 deductible on my hybrid.

Too much that can go wrong from 36 to 100k and 60 to 100k not to have it. I paid just over $2k for mine

Flood has the $100/10/100k mile warranty for $2,610.

Thank you to everyone for their advice. Becoming a member of MTC just saved me about $2200. Quite amazing!

Now, I have a second question. We also bought a 2024 Edge for my wife and traveling less than 2 weeks ago. 34,000 miles so warranty is about to run out. Got talked into an extended warranty from the dealer which we bought because we didn’t have much time to decide. Now that I know what I know I’m…..not happy. I wonder if it’s too late to switch to Granger. Any thoughts or experience with this?
Thanks again!

Finally pulled the trigger and ordered my extended warranty ... also from Granger. 10 year, 100k miles, ZERO deductible, plus I added the interior/exterior lighting rider for $70 more. $3135 total. This is the first ever extended warranty purchase ever in the 50+ years of driving. Peace of mind, plus I now have the extra $$$ to put towards it. We'll see if it pays off. If not, then I'll feel good that I donated to all the others out there that may benefit from the program.

Good news!!! You can cancel a Ford Protect extended warranty at anytime and you get a refund for the prorated amount. If you just added it you’ll get 95-100% back.

So we just saved you about $4500.

Looks like drinks are on @MavGeek

LOL, I know you can cancel at any time but I don‘t want some $1000 filing fee! As far as drinks on me I think that would be a great idea! Any meetups In the NE? 😉

No there’s no cancelation fee. I’ve canceled my warranty through granger 3 weeks after I got it because I sold my 2023 Tremor and they refunded the whole thing no questions asked.

If the dealership gives you trouble get ford corporate involved.

Meet ups? Carlisle Ford Nationals June 2027 in Carlisle, PA!!

We’re trying to get as many MTC folks as we can.

You may have 30 days to cancel the dealer's warranty . I'd call the warranty company first thing and try that. Stick with the official FORD warranty if you can.

I’ve been offered $4500 for the 10 year/100,000 miles/$100 deductible warranty. Sounds like a good deal especially with the tech, etc. on these vehicles. Any thoughts or experience is appreciated!
Nay. The Hybrid is much easier on the drivetrain than the EcoBoost, and the parts that are likely to fail (like the 12v battery repeatedly) are not covered. The wear items (brakes for example) will last 3x longer than on the EcoBoost. The engine is a very low stress 20yr old Mazda L engine that will go at least a half-million miles without issue. The Toyota-designed eCVT has been in million-mile taxi use in the last 20 years. The Hyundai halfshafts will eventually fail, but still last far longer than on the EcoBoost. Ford shocks do not fail early like GM and Chrysler ones do. Your extended warranty will have expired long before you get to use it.

All true but, unfortunately, things break. I hope I have zero problems for the life of the vehicle but $2300 (what I eventually paid through Granger Ford) is well worth the peace of mind in my book. This is coming from someone who never buys extended warranties on anything else.

Yes, not many regrets here on an 8/125k premium care. for 2400. At least you have some features to cover, with no AWD or CP360 I could have done Base, extra care or powertrain. 50k no claims but perhaps I'll get some axles out of the deal eventually.

Technically, they are right saying "no" but not every decision has to a financial winner. This one is pure insurance.
