So I usually get about 300 to 320 miles per tank. I do mostly highway driving. Get about 26mpg But I decided to conduct a little experiment, me and the family went to the newest buc-ees in ohio and I decided to fill up with their ethanol free gas
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I got almost 445 miles out of that tank of gas. So if anybody is considering does non ethanol fuel really make a difference? Yes, yes, it makes that much of a difference. And I have repeated it with consecutive results.. Just a FYI for anybody who is considering it. It's worth the extra dollar on fill up per gallon
I just reset my gauge but it read 30.7 MPG after 1047 mi. Of course the gauge is suspect, but not by a lot. When the truck was new I checked it and it was only off 2%. My mileage has gone down since then. I have 43K on the truck now. Still, couldn't be happier with my MPG. I use ethanol 93 octane, but Top Tier.

At Maverik Adventure Stops (similar to Buc-ees here in Utah), the Maverik stations price for mid-grade (87 octane) ethanol-containing gasoline is $4.47 per gallon, and their ethanol-free (88 octane) ClearGas is $4.57 per gallon. Why would your's be $1.00 more per gallon? Do you live in a corn belt state? A full fill-up here with ClearGas only cost a total of about $1.30 more. And yes, it does make a huge difference running ethanol free gasoline.

The only answer I can give you for the extra dollar A gallon is ,it's ohio and everything sucks in ohio.
Yesterday, when I got fuel 87 was $3.47 a gallon premium was $4.52 and non ethanol 90 was the same as premium.i got the 90 non eth

You may be an out lier. The exception.
You may be fooled. Maybe you are being lied to at the gas station. Maybe you mis-read the signs. Maybe the pumps were mis-labeled. Maybe you are exceptionally lucky. I don't know.

What I do know is ethanol free is USUALLY 50 cents more per gallon, with some limited areas being about 1.00 more per gallon.

For whatever reason, what you posted is atypical.

Wow. You're getting like EV range from an EB.

My hybrid: 700 miles per tank routinely with 10% ethanol. (In mild weather.)

And ethanol free is more than a dollar extra per tankful. More like $5 or $6 more.

But up to you to decide what you like best.
What kind of driving are you doing? I am not getting more than 550 miles on a tank?

I don't appreciate essentially being accused of being somehow fooled, or don't know what I'm talking about, yada, yada in your post., but I'll leave it at that. It sounds like other areas of the country are simply bilking their customers. I just went to the Maverik Country Stores website and chose the nearest station to our home. The top prices on this screenshot are the cash & credit prices today. Most people that frequent there get a Nitro card for additional savings. Mid-grade with ethanol is 87 octane here in this area. The ethanol-free ClearGas (their brand name for it) is 88 octane. The pricing speaks for itself. I am not lucky. Everyone pays these prices, even people on the Maverick forum that don't believe that one can fill a Maverick with Maverik ClearGas for just 10 cents more per gallon.

Thanks for posting.
Your pure gas is 35 cents a gallon more than E10. Octane is irrelevant in the hybrid engine.

Based on energy content which translates to MPG your pure gas should cost you 16 cents more than "regular" E10.

You are paying 2x for the 3.5% boost in energy. Enjoy it!

the low grade you are referring to is 85 octane. Maybe works in an old clunker.

I live in Utah, Maverick's 88 octane is actually E15. They do have pure gas sometimes but its always at least as much as the 91 octane. Maybe hes using nitro card points or something 🤔

No, I'm not using Nitro points. That screen shot is directly from Maverik's website today. They update the pricing daily on their site. The cash difference between the mid-grade regular (87/88 octane depending on the elevation of the station) is only ten cents. Don't know what Maverik Adventure stop you go to, but there is only the ten cent difference per gallon here in far southwestern Utah. I also checked Cedar City and its the same difference. By the way, ALL new full-sized Maverik Adventure stops with bakeries and food services in central and southern Utah have the 88 octane ethanol-free ClearGas ALL the time. It's a regular item on the pump and has a seperate blue handle and filler.

I needed to fill up our Maverick tonight so I pulled into a Maverik Adventure Stop and gassed up. These are the cash prices shown on the pump. So anyone who said I was mistaken, hallucinating, or simply telling a mistruth, this is reality. 88 octane Clear Gas is 10 cents more than the 87 octane regular. I did use my Maverik Adventure card for a whopping 2 cents per gallon discount (why not?!) so it came out to to $4.68.9/gallon. I put in 8.963 gallons which when multiplied by 4.689 come out to $40.76 total. Had I used 87 octane regular it would have cost $41.13 (8.963 x $4.58.9) for the fill up. If I get the estimated 4% greater fuel economy because ethanol contains less energy than pure gasoline, a normal 41 MPG in local driving would be 43 MPG. For the minimal additional 37 cents for the fill-up I am getting an additional 18 miles (8.963 gallons x 2 MPG = 17.926 additional miles). Well worth it in my book!
