Figured it would take much longer for me to post one of these threads, but as of a few days ago I am no longer a card carrying member of MTC. I made the choice to sell my Maverick and upgrade to a Ford Ranger. I've always loved the Ranger and owned one for a number of years in my early 20's. I almost bought a 6th generation Ranger before I bought my Mav, but I really liked the Maverick's affordable price. I love the Maverick platform but it turns out it just wasn't the best option for my situation. I live in a pretty darn rural area and I think the Mav was just a hair too small for my use case. I frequently had buyers remorse wishing I had gotten the hybrid instead of the EB, esspecially with the longer distances I drive living in such a remote area. However, at the time I bought the only way to get the tow package was with the EcoBoost. I'm also a big, broad shouldered dude at 6'3" and 260lbs; and while the Mav was comfortable for shorter rides around town, it really got uncomfortable during long journeys to Portland or Boise. I found myself frequently having to stop so I could get out and stretch my legs, not something I had to do with my old cars on long trips.

I'll still be around because I think this forum is a great resource for all kinds of automotive stuff, but I just won't be able to call myself an official member of the Maverick Truck Club

When comparing Ford Maverick vs Ranger size on the inside, both SuperCrew models seat five comfortably, but the Maverick edges ahead in overall passenger volume with 101.5 cubic feet versus the Ranger’s 98.3 cubic feet. Front headroom is nearly identical, at 40.2 inches in the Maverick and 39.8 inches in the Ranger, while rear passengers benefit from 39.6 inches of headroom in the Maverick compared to 38.3 inches in the Ranger. Legroom tells a similar story: the Maverick offers up to 42.8 inches up front and 36.9 inches in the rear, whereas the Ranger provides slightly more front legroom at 43.7 inches but less rear legroom at 34.6 inches.



Ford Maverick vs Ranger size differences also show up in hip and shoulder measurements. Front hip room is essentially neck-and-neck, with 55.4 inches in the Maverick and 55.9 inches in the Ranger, and both deliver 54.1 inches of rear hip room. Shoulder room flips the balance in the Ranger’s favor in the rear—56.7 inches compared to the Maverick’s 55.6 inches—while the front seats are marginally wider in the Maverick at 57.3 inches versus the Ranger’s 57.1 inches.

When I first sat in a Maverick, while considering it for me, after I ruled it out, I also tried a Ranger. Both seemed to have identical left leg room (my primary consideration!)

Both of those were XLT I ordered the Lariat for my wife, and it seems to have a bit more (enough that I can drive around town, but not distance, without padding under my left thigh).

Actually I've been thinking of trading my 2023 Bronco Sport Badlands and my 2024 Maverick Lariat Tremor for a Ranger Raptor but... I don't need to sign debt right now

Lariat has more seat room than the XLT that's got to be The "Lariat placebo" effect.
They are Identical seats with different covers. That's it
Does the lariat have more driver side seat adjustments than the XLT?

What's odd is that, on paper, the Maverick does offer more room in the passenger compartment. However with my Mav I had to have my seat 90% of the way back and my right knee would only be 2-3 inches from the dashboard. In my new Ranger I have the seat maybe 60% back and I have more room for my knees than I did in the Mav. If I set my seat all the way back I can almost entirely stretch my legs out, which I couldn't do in the Mav.

I peeped over there and saw it was way less active than here. I feel like the 5G and 6G Ranger forums should merge to create a bit more activity. Maybe I'll create a Ranger thread for those of us who made the jump but want to stay active here.

I’d read it.
I test drove a Ranger. It has become bloat ware. It’s almost as big as the old F-150’s and as big as the modern Tacomas.

If I needed more truck I’d have one.

If you look at an XLT equipped with the optional XLT Luxury Package, it gets upgraded to the exact same 8-way power driver's seat and power lumbar support found standard in the Lariat.
If don't, then Standard Lariat: Features an 8-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support. This adds the ability to electronically fine-tune the angle of the seat cushion base (tilting) and customize lower back support via the dedicated power lumbar control.

Congrat's OP, the Ranger is a solid choice if you need more truck capacity than the Mav is capable of.

I plan to check out the baby Raptor next summer when my Bronco lease is up...

Congratulations, I just recently went the other direction. Same reasons as you, just the opposite, the Maverick was a better fit for me at the moment.
