And the snarkiness of the EV proponents continues on full display with comments like "flyover state". I could make a comment about your special kind of state but I won't go down that rat hole, since I lived in one of those special states for many years and was extremely happy to escape it (and also escape from many of the people who lived in them). Their willingness to proselytize to everyone about their EV obsession is amazing, particularly since most of us don't care about their opinion. Have a great day regardless.
I researched your beloved Kroger.

Half the data available said their prices are 15% to 20% higher than other major chains. The other half said their prices run 12% to 15% higher than other chains.

Hate to break it to you, but you're paying $4 a gallon for gas one way or another.

Have a great day regardless.

>> Maverick is kinda half-assed about everything

Wow. Just wow. I didn't realize my reliable, comfortable, affordable, highly equipped Maverick AWD was half-assed about everything. I'm gonna have to go out and have a talk with it about getting better. Maybe after these rain showers pass.

I know what I'll do. I'll tell it that it's heated seats and steering wheel, AWD, unlimited range, safety tech and rear seats have been declared socially unacceptable. And that I'm just going to have to cancel it.

That dang deplorable Maverick. What was I ever thinking buying one and getting 38,000 miles and 4 years of happy ownership from it? I am so humiliated by our shared inferiority. I think I'm going to cry now.
Depends where you came from I guess.
If it's the best vehicle you've ever owned it is the best vehicle you have ever owned.

I was not opposed to Chinese EV’s until I found out about their gov’t subsidizes

Chinese cars are cheap because their government subsidized the cost. For that reason, how can American companies (and other foreign companies) compete against that.

When we talk about a 20k Chinese EV, we are not comparing apples to apples. And for those reasons, I am now fully in support of our gov’t banning Chinese EV’s I don’t think anyone wants our government to start paying Ford to produce EV’s.

In some ways they did with the 30% tax break and while we all loved it, it was a federal subsidy.

Bob
Yes, indeed. 100%.

From AI:

U.S. electric vehicle (EV) sales experienced a significant decline following the expiration of federal tax credits in late 2025, with sales dropping by approximately 36% year-over-year in Q4 2025 and 27% in Q1 2026, according to data from Cox Automotive Inc.. By early 2026, the market showed signs of stabilizing at a lower level of 5.8% market share, down from a peak of over 10% in late 2025. [1, 2, 3]

5.8% market share after subsidies removed. A true niche product. Ford is foolish to pour money into this EV truck instead of expanding PHEV into the current pickup market with a decent all electric range of at least 50 miles if not slightly more.

I would love a PHEV Maverick FX/4 with an all electric range of 50-75 miles. I could run all my errands on electric and even drive one way to the VA on electric. No range anxiety. This would be the perfect truck for me.

That’s the best picture of the new EV that I’ve seen to date! It’s behind the shrubs and looks just like the version that the Ford project engineers are hoping it may look like.
I can’t buy a car…. Or make plans for my next car without knowing what it is. That sounds like a very poor sales strategy. Pics? Anyone?

The 2.0l ecoboost engine is not available south the border.
I got my 2024 brand new back in the day.
If I want to upgrade to a new 2026 I won't be able to get the 2.0l
The 2.0l seems to be worry free vs the 2.5l Hybrid
Sounds like a Ford De Mexico decision. Ford just redesigned the 2.0 so I doubt they did it to discontinue it's use everywhere. Where did you see the information about the 2.0? Ford Authority says the EB is available in Mexico. Just curious if it is because Ford needs to meet some quota in Mexico for fuel efficiency.

Incentive and subsidies are everywhere. .
It's just that EV subsidies were a direct give back from the government to entice buyers who normally would not be interested battery operated vehicles.
The main reason for that incentive was the higher purchase price of EVs. The hope was that the price would come down as production volume increased and technological advances made the batteries more affordable.

Lincoln was more expensive than Ford but had more safety Innovations.
I want to keep my family safe.
I need a incentive so I can buy a Lincoln.🤣

And when that enticement dried up. Sales dipped.
*As of April 22, 2026 a report shows that electric vehicle sales dropped by 14% in the first quarter. Experts point to federal policy changes, such as the end of a $7,500 tax credit for buyers and the rollback of fuel economy rules.
And
Tesla has faced significant sales pressure, including a 24.3% crash in California registrations in Q1 2026 and a 15.6% drop in Q4 2025 global deliveries.
However, Oompa Loompa closing the Strait of Hormuz (and in turn greatly inflating gasoline prices) has greatly boosted EV sales in recent weeks.
🤷🏻‍♂️

We had a VCR in 1978.
Cost $1500

EV's will come down.

Ford Maverick Ford Midsize EV Truck News: Ford Skunkworks (EVDC) - first ever behind the scenes tour; sneak peek at EV pickup [WARNING: NO POLITICS] IMG_8328

AI Overview
+7

High gas prices are actively boosting electric vehicle (EV) sales and interest in 2026, with over half of car shoppers considering EVs or plug-in hybrids to escape high pump costs. Rising fuel prices are driving a "sugar rush" of interest, leading to increased sales in Europe and Asia, and a surge in used EV sales in the US.
Key Impacts of High Gas Prices on EV Adoption:
  • Surging Demand & Interest: 52% of car shoppers in a Cars.com survey are considering an EV or plug-in hybrid due to rising prices.
  • Increased Sales & Traffic: As noted in an ABC News segment, EV dealers report higher foot traffic and sales, with some top brands seeing a 40% increase compared to last year.
  • Used Market Shift: As gas prices stay high, consumers are turning to the used EV market for more cost-effective, gas-saving options.

False equivalence, of course. Lincoln used the same engine technology as Ford. Incentives for EV buyers were also incentives for technology development.

Look, I don't have any more interest in buying a current EV than you do, but I acknowledge that it's a personal preference. I feel no compulsion to make up BS about why nobody else should want one.

Hmmm

I guess it wasn't enough for Ford to lose 19 Billion dollars on the F-150 Lightning. Now they're going see how much it can lose on the next EV.
Reminds me of a saying.
"doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity"
